Agreed. I went on a Dollar General store run yesterday morning to get a few things I needed. It was still 45 degrees and the roads were clear. I pared my list down to prevent going further away and shop at a major grocery store.
Then, I returned home and put a pot of chili on to cook. If the power goes out, the pot of leftover chili can go on the wood stove and sit and simmer. People think that “one” thing they need to get is so important. That is, until they are sitting in traffic waiting for the wreckers to remove the vehicles who are blocking traffic after a seven car pile-up, or are themselves sitting in a ditch. At that point, they are glancing at the gas gauge and have forgotten all about that frivolous item they thought they really needed. I'm not leaving my place again until Tuesday when it is supposed to get above freezing. If I don't have what you want, I'll give you an “IOU”.
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! Stay at home, have a cuppa tea, and read the story of Jesus’ birth. Your life will be safe and your life will be enrichened.
