You are responsible for having your hands on the wheel and in your control at all times.

Period.

Is there a danger that lefty Tesla owners will self-sabotage to undermine Musk now that Elon has come out as a conservative?

THat’s what I thought. We don’t have any approved self driving cars yet. Even if it CAN self drive. I just rented a 2023 Kia Soul while I was in Seattle It was able to self drive, at least on the freeway, where there are no “sharp” turns, but if i took my hands off the wheel for too long, it reminded me to put them back on the wheel.

BTW, it was the best car I’ve ever rented, and I’ve rented a lot. In fact, we’re in the market for a new car and I was wondering...

Then I remembered it’s a KIA. Who knows how long it will last? So, never mind...

There was a study about a year ago that the younger one is, the more they trust the technology and are more likely to let the car drive itself with hands off of the steering wheel.

My 2018 Honda CRV pretty much can drive itself on Interstates. Between the adaptive cruise control, lane assist and accident avoidance systems, the car steers itself and will brake and even stop the car if the car in front brakes. But being a geezer, I still keep my hands on the wheel and my foot ready to brake if I need to.

I have to wonder if the structure of the Bay Bridge somehow interferes with the FSD system. Seems to me there was another crash a year or so ago involving a inattentive driver on the bridge in a Tesla.

Human drivers have never caused a pile up like this!
