I’m skeptical. More people are not paying attention anymore. I work the LEO and people have told me since the lock down accident rates and what not are up.
Yes, there is that threat.
I like and respect Musk a lot and think he is one of America’s great assets. I’m glad he’s young enough to hopefully produce innovations for decades.

He must have been checking on his EV to make sure it’s charged up for the attic blast on the way and the power goes out.

Car Safety System Names Like Autopilot Are Too Confusing: Report
Consumer Reports asked more than 35,000 owners their opinions about vehicle safety features’ names and how helpful those systems were.

If you don’t know the difference between blind-spot monitors and lane departure warnings, you’re not alone. You should be forgiven if active lane control and lane keep assist sound the same to you, even though they’re not. And that goes without saying that Autopilot isn’t, and Pilot Assist is, but not from the same automaker.
That’s why this month, Consumer Reports called on automakers to clarify their advanced driver assist features in the name of not only clearing confusion between the systems but also encouraging drivers to understand those lifesaving tech suites and use them more often.

Just what we need on the roads, a car that can go 250mph.
“In before the EV lovers explain how this is a feature not a bug and us mouth breathers don’t have the IQ to understand it.”
Obviously you do not understand that this system is not unique to EV’s. Just about every car hitting the road now has some of the features.
It would be rather convenient for a driver to get themselves into trouble, then flip into self-driving mode in the hopes of bailing them out. Or turn it on *after* an accident.

Yeah, I turned it off in the wife’s Honda. Got tired of it slamming on the brakes or shaking the wheel when it didn’t need to do so.
OMG!!!!!!!
I’m so impressed. OMG. You’ve changed my life forever.
I’m going to go buy a Tesla and move to Florida so I can support your boy. OMG!!!
I’m dizzy in love
I could say something, and not use any foul language, but I’m sure the admin/moderator and a few of the folks on the FR Morality PD would take offense.
On a side note, every time EVs or DeSantis pops up on this site you prove how easily led so many are.
So far, I see the attempts at being super modern, super failures. None of it is impressive.
We have seemed to excel in evil things that bring about self annihilation and human misery.
Someday self-driving cars will be safer than cars with drivers. Today is not yet that day.
Musk is no conservative. He is just more of a supporter of free speech than most liberals.
“EV builders should tell drivers not to use self-driving in snowy conditions.”
What about builders of ICE vehicles?
Anyone who has owned and used PeeCees for any length of time, and STILL allows a PeeCee to drive his car, and maybe get his ass KILLED when it BSODs, deserves the paperwork involved. (Assuming he survives.)
Once a car on “Full Auto-Pilot” gets RAMMED at speed, the A.I. won’t be able to control its path.
And you’re along for the ride atop the damaged Battery Bomb when it all finally comes to rest.
Best of luck to ya!
