Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the White House and Congress drew the ire of Fox News host Tucker Carlson who repeatedly criticized how the war-time Ukrainian president was dressed.

Speaking on his show on Wednesday night, Carlson said that Zelensky looked like a "strip club manager" and should have been thrown out of Congress.

We should really be interested in easing the burden on the Ukrainians and that burden will not be eased by supplying more arms that the Russians will simply destroy or capture. It will be eased by negotiations in which the West has to concede territory to Russia and agree to a non-NATO status, in other words, a neutral status for Ukraine.

Nobody wants to do that, so under the circumstances Ukraine is doomed.

We have double downed; we've taken the mortgage, the kid's college fund and everything and we have placed it on a losing bet. We are going to lose. Ukraine will be defeated and decisively. NATO will be humiliated and the United States will be left holding the broken pieces. This is a reality. Now what does America do for that. There is going to be a lot of rhetoric, of course designed to shape a narrative. A hope that somehow Russia can be persuaded to seek a diplomatic solution...an offramp to this conflict. And so, rather than moderating their approach, rather than adopting the language of compromise, the United States is being aggressive.

The most recent aggressive move is the decision to provide Ukraine with Patriot surface-to-air missile batteries. But, when you think about it the first Patriot isn't going to show up on the battle field for months. This was is going to be over by then. It's a meaningless gesture and the United States knows it is a meaningless gesture. You'd have to train up an extraordinarily large number of Ukrainian forces....each battery takes 90 men...on the complexities of a system that doesn't work. Let's just be clear about the Patriot system...it doesn't work. It didn't work in the Gulf War. It didn't shoot down any of Iraq's scuds. It shot down more ally aircraft during Operation Iraqi Freedom than Iraqi missiles and was unable to protect Saudi Arabia's Aramco oil fields from the Huti drone attacks a couple years ago. This system has an abysmal combat record. Even if it did work it could not be incorporated into the Ukrainian Air Defense Network which is a Soviet era network right now being sort of patchworked with Western systems that are incompatible. There is no unified command and control, etc.

So the Patriot will go in. It won't work. It will be destroyed. Ukrainians will die. This is the outcome. But, from the Russian perspective this is just one more example of the United States upping the ante. And the Russian point of view is...to what end? Why does the United States keep doubling down on stupid? Doubling down on failure? At some point in time if you keep doing this the trajectory leads to the inevitability of a conflict...a military contact between Russia and the United States, Russia and NATO. So I think Russia is doing it's due diligence by calling the Americans out on this. By saying "This is a very dangerous direction you are heading on. You might want to think twice about continuing down this path."

I remember when trigger happy Ukrainians murdered a family with three children as they were just driving along in Kiev.

There is video of one russian checkpoint where they repeatedly shot at any car approaching, killing the civilians. russian soldiers would also pull out the civilians out of the vehicle and execute them on the spot.

Russian forces have fired on civilian vehicles in three separate incidents in Ukraine’s Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, killing six civilians and wounding three, Human Rights Watch said today. In one case, they pulled a man from a van and summarily executed him.

“Russian soldiers at checkpoints opened fire on passing vehicles without any apparent effort to verify whether the occupants were civilians,” said Belkis Wille, senior crisis and conflict researcher at Human Rights Watch. “The obligation to distinguish between civilians and combatants is a constant as is the prohibition on targeting civilians, whether in their homes, on the streets, or in their cars.”

Human Rights Watch interviewed nine witnesses who were each present during one of the three incidents, including two who were wounded in these attacks. Researchers visited the sites of the three incidents and examined the four cars that were fired upon. Witnesses say that there were no Ukrainian forces in the vicinity at the time.

The large number of civilian vehicles currently disabled on roads in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions with bullet holes, burn marks, and other signs of destruction suggests that Russian forces have also harmed other civilians in similar unlawful attacks. Russian forces should respect civilians trying to flee hostilities and facilitate the delivery of impartial humanitarian aid for civilians through territory under their control.

Two of the incidents took place in Hostomel, a town about 20 kilometers northwest of Kyiv. Russian forces tried to secure the area on the first day of their invasion on February 24, 2022, and to seize control of the town’s military airport. Russian forces then occupied the area for much of March, before pulling out of the Kyiv region on March 31.

Russian forces opened fire on the car of Maksym Maksymenko on February 28, 2022 in Hostomel, killing his mother and wounding Maksym and his wife.

Russian forces in Hostomel opened fire on Oleksandr Maksymenko’s car while he was trying to evacuate on February 28, 2022, with his wife, son, and neighbor’s father. His son and neighbor’s father died.

The temporary grave that Valerii Savchenko dug in his Hostomel garden to bury Liubov and Volodymyr Maksymenko. They were killed on February 28, 2022 when Russian forces opened fire on the cars in which they trying to evacuate.

Russian forces in Hostomel opened fire on this civilian vehicle in which Yurii Prylypko, Hostomel’s mayor, Yurii Shturma, Taras, and Ivan Zaria were driving on the afternoon of March 3, 2022. Prylypko and Zaria were killed.

I have been in wars and the ugly aftermath of war. I used to have to photograph bodies of those butchered in wars and tell their families they were dead. No cheering from me.

If Zelensky had done what he was elected to do — implement Minsk — there would be no war, nothing for you to cheer about.

Says you who have never been in a war. Who swallows everything the press feeds you. I have seen the media at “work” in wars. They pretend to do frontline reporting but hang out in the Interconti bar in the capital city, or a nearby capital city, reporting whatever whatever the favored side feeds them. It’s surreal when you see one thing with your own eyes and then see the press reporting a whole ‘another version of what you and your colleagues who are in the middle of it see right in front of you.
