A new poll reveals that only 31% of respondents describe their mental health as "excellent," the lowest ever by three points.
And 23% reported visiting a mental-health professional in 2022, up from only 13% in 2004.
The results are from a new poll by Gallup, which said the self-assessments of mental health "are the lowest in more than two decades of Gallup polling."
Another 44% of respondents said their mental health is "good," and the combined 75% with "excellent" is the lowest on record and down 10 points from the average since 2001.
"In addition, 17% of U.S. adults describe their mental health as 'only fair' and 7% as 'poor.' The latter figure is the highest in Gallup’s trend," the polling organization said.
Those rating themselves "excellent" averaged about 45% before the COVID-19 pandemic came out of China and killed millions worldwide.
"Gallup polling early in the pandemic found that U.S. adults were concerned about their own mental health and that of their children. By November 2020, eight months after the pandemic began in the U.S., Americans' excellent assessments of their own mental health dropped nine points to 34%, a new low since the measure was first tracked in 2001," Gallup said.
Last year the measurement was unchanged.
"The latest three-point dip in excellent mental health evaluations, from a Nov. 9-Dec. 2 Gallup poll, suggests that although the pandemic has improved, some of its ill effects remain. These include economic concerns precipitated by the highest inflation rate in more than four decades," Gallup said.

Trying to insist that insane thoughts are normal will manifest itself as insanity in real life. Gender confusion is a mental illness and must be treated as such. Trying to make it normal is the mental illness part. Following the Word of God is the treatment needed.
Scripture tells us that we will continue to spiral downwards until Jesus comes to fix it. Stall we can do is stall for more time.
I’d feel better if the government gave me $147 billion.
Isaiah 26:3
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
My current hypothesis is that insanity and mental illness are different.
Insanity = not sane, not logical, not able to recognize and process truth.
See Shiffty for an example.
Or believers in Climate Change.
Men can get pregnant.
Stuff like that.
I class these with the reprobate mind.
I call proponents of this ‘stuff’ Insane.
They have to be saved by Jesus’ death on the Cross.
Mental Illness = Some sort of brain damage/abnormality. Physical injury, inherited, maybe drug induced, maybe severe trauma.
Treated with therapy, medications, incarceration.
I tend to attribute these to demons.
Like Legion and the pigs.
These might require exorcism.
I tend to not use ‘nuts’ or ‘crazy’, or ‘bonkers’ to describe any of the above. Too general, and too stereotyped by the general population.
Do I have solutions? Not for the general case. (Govt. ‘solution’ is homelessness, higher taxes, jail/prison. Get them out of sight.) Maybe intervention on a personal level, as the Holy Spirit leads.
I don’t see mass cures. Some personal ones as we decline.
Whenever you hear of a poll, it's really a Satanic trick to give confidence to a lost person that they are doing the "right" thing. God told us that there is none good, no not one, and My ways are not your ways, My ways are higher than your ways, so when a man hears that 56% of people believe abortion is good, or 71% of people smoke dope, they feel confident that what they think is good and acceptable. If the poll said 99% believe gay marriage is right, it's still wrong because God thinks differently. The right answer is always found in Scripture no matter what the popular opinion might be. If a black person knew the way this worked, he might realize that a 51% vote could put him back in slavery, people might start realizing that popular opinion in Satan's Kingdom is very dangerous. Jesus said "I am the Truth", so we must always follow His teaching no matter what the popular opinion might be.
If you stop and think for a moment, Jesus can just speak and it will come to pass, no matter how miraculous it might seem. What He says will come to pass no matter what people think will happen. Psalm 2 is about earth people coming against God in the last days. They actually believe they can fight God with weapons and God laughs at them. How crazy do you have to be to believe you can fight God and win? They believed they had won when Jesus was on the cross, but that was the ultimate victory God was looking for.
