I think they meant the Steelers all time leading rusher.

Local New media have become a bunch real amateurs......I see misting their reporting all the time.

Ive even seen misspelled words on the scroll at the bottom the screen. SMH

Watching that replay on YouTube, it's amazing how prehistoric that footage looked and how tinny the sound quality was.

Yet back then, this was state of the art TV technology.

Well done. The Jets got their revenge a month later.

When he retired, Franco Harris was #2.
Jim Brown had more.

But the football was much better.

Sigh.

RIP, Franco Harris.

It was 1974 Draft, which was also a strike year. For some reason, the rookies were allowed to play during the strike. Jack Lambert, Mike Webster, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, and Donnie Shell were in that class.

Nobody kneeled back then. Unless they were taking a fair catch in the end zone.

Thanks for the correction. Now I’ll correct you. LOL.

Harris was certainly in the top 10 at the time of his retirement.

He was less than 200 yards short of Jim Brown’s career rushing record when he retired.

"When he retired, Franco Harris was #2. Jim Brown had more."

Franco had a great offensive line, and Rocky Bleier was not afraid to aggressively block for him as well. Franco was known to dot a lot of shuffling left and right waiting for just the right hole to open up.

I had an uncle, long since passed, who used to say if Franco had as many yards going forward as he did sideways, nobody would ever be close to him in career yardage :)

The difference is that Neil Armstrong was a public figure and a household name because of his lunar mission. How many people who aren’t football fans even know anything about Franco Harris?

John Madden was the coach of the Raiders at the time, and he always said that he would never get over that play.

RIP Franco, from a lifelong Browns fan.

Franco Harris was a great player. He was also a businessman after football. As a fan of the Steelers (and Penn State) he was wonderful. RIP...

He definitely did shuffle when running, especially as he got older. But he and Rocky were the first pair of running backs to go over 1000 rushing yards in the same season.

Those were the days and that was my team. After football went free agency, I lost interest. The Steelers would never be a dynasty again.

Best NFL team in the history of football. The 70s Steelers.

Did he refer to the play as "Macho Grande"?

I was an original member of Franco's Italian Army {I was the medic} and my brother in law jumped off of the dugout and ran into the end zone to congratulate Franco and got knocked down into the end zone mud {from the baseball infield} and he never got his coat cleaned nor wore it again.

We met Franco for several events, good guy, giant lib.

Since I am only a half dago, I could not be a founder, {it's a bent nose tradition from Sicily} but our group's 8 seats were directly in front of Tony Stagno and Al Vento so we all were part of the original Army.

Great times, since the Steelers had never won anything in their 40 years of existence, this was a new and fantastic experience for Steeler fans.

The excitement within the entire area was unlike anything, ever in local pro sports and will never be duplicated.

RIP Franco.

Franco Harris retired as the NFL’s all-time leading rusher,

Not even in the top 10. That would be Emmett Smith

It doesn't say "Franco Harris IS the NFL's all time leading rusher, it says "retired as" meaning, "at that time".

You are not even in the top 20, dumb ass.
