I sprained one ankle on the basement stairs, taking a basket of laundry down and missed the last step bringing my body weight down as the foot twisted and there were cracking sounds, may have broken bones, dont know never saw a doctor, just iced it, elevated the foot and eventually it healed in a couple of months, more until it was perfectly normal again.
The second time wasnt as bad but as painful. My foot went to sleep someone came to the door and I jumped up to answer but lost balance and came straight down and twisted my ankle
I had three dogs at the dog park four years ago. I bent over to take the leashes off of the two girls and my husband released the little male while I was bent over. He ran at me wide open, jumped, and hit me on the butt. There was no way to recover, and I went sideways to land on the foot/ankle. It twisted under me. I waited a couple of weeks before going to the doctor, but that doctor was a real quack. The second doctor was a quack. I took myself to a PT in Knoxville. He helped me a lot, but he finally referred me to the big orthopedic hospital and clinic in Knoxville. Three MRI’s, several x-rays, and one nerve conduction test later, I found out that the tendons had been torn (not ruptured) but had healed too tight. I also had a hole in one bone in my foot that had arthritis in it. It was called some kind of cystic arthritis. It was in the bone, not in the joint. That one bothers me the most. If I had not gone to the doctor, or gone to the specialist first, I wouldn’t be in this mess.
