The family of a 21-year-old college student from Georgia is in mourning after he was killed by a Hancock County sheriff’s deputy in an officer-involved shooting over the weekend.
Isaiah Winkley, who was studying cyber security at Pensacola Christian College in Florida, died Saturday morning after Hancock deputies responded to a report of a burglary at 28030 Highway 603 in Kiln, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said in a release.

Another Motel 6 shooting? Two MS Coast officers were shot and killed at a Motel 6 a few days ago.
So I’ll ask you
Why was he involved in a robbery of a home
Most people never encounter the police. Maybe at a trafficking stop but rarely anything else
Why was he in the vicinity of a home robbery if he’s such a good kid? Most police tell you to stop before they pull their hum
Precisely
If you don’t know the people stay away
Oh indeed
It’s worked for me for seven decades
“Why was he involved in a robbery of a home”
Have they actually determined that was what happened?
I’ve never even been accused of being involved in a robbery
Seems to me this”good” kid made some really bad decisions
I don’t know. I’m not jumping to conclusions beyond the reporting we know. Apparently, that’s not a hindrance on some others.

To be honest, I am less than impressed with self-described "Christians."
Young adults can do stupid things, and can have activities they skillfuly hide from their parents.
Is that what happened here? I have no idea, but someone called to report a burglary, and the policw responded.
Obviously, the specific details of what happened then will decide the case.
I think you scrolled down too far and saw photos and follow-up story info related to another shooting in Bay St. Louis a few days ago. AFAIK, there is no Motel 6 in the Kiln, Mississippi area. That's well north of I-10, a total two-lane blacktop rural part of the state.
It *is* a bit weird that Hancock County, Mississippi would have two such incidents in quick succession. That part of the Gulf Coast has been sleepy since Prohibition ended.
I think he was gunned down by a trigger happy deputy. Again, we need the badgecam footage. Taking too long to get it.

It’s certainly peculiar. That was what I could find that was more specific about him being a burglary suspect and not someone just walking by a residence. No mention of what he was attempting to steal.
“Best to leave me alone.”
Oooooooooohhhhhhhh! Scary
It’s the internet. Statements with vague or veiled threats usually attract the very attention they intended to discourage.
Let’s obey the Bongino rule. Wait 72 hours til the dust settles then comment.
I came very close to being accused of a robbery once. Me and a friend were caught breaking into a church.
Actually we were replacing a broken window. My friend forgot the key so we just broke the window the rest of the way and climbed in, just as what seemed like the entire police department converged on us.
This was in the early 80’s so they didn’t have SWAT yet.
Instead we easily explained what we were doing and got to work.
“I’m thinking that a “gardened criminal” is one who’s interred under the garden.”
Hoes might be involved.
