Dealership just called a few minutes ago, said vehicle’s ready for me to pick it up, so off I go!
Thank you all so much for all the wonderful replies on my vanity post. I’m just so thrilled to be getting my first pick-up and my first Toyota. I’ll let you all know at the end of the day my first impressions after a full day of driving it. :-)
Oh, what a feeling!
I don't own a Taco, multiple Corollas. Made in USA. Very solid cars.
Got a 2022 Nissan Frontier SV Long Bed (fresh, new body style) last April.
My first new vehicle in 23 years. Love it! Very solid truck.
Enjoy you Tacoma!
Enjoy your new ride! My son made the differentials in that truck when he worked at Hino in Marion AR. He was an engineer for them. He quit a few months ago and now works for Caterpillar.
I had a '94 GC that I had until '04 and had almost 200K on it. Traded it in for an '04 GC that I had up until '15 with just over 200K. Traded it in for a '14 Rubicon that I also loved, but when my wife and I got a little late in life surprise, the Rubicon had to go for something a little easier to get a child seat in and out of...so I swapped it out for a 2018 Cherokee Trailhawk...which I love. I've been a Jeep brand loyalist for decades, but quite honestly, there's not much in their current product line that lights my fire. I really liked the JK Wrangler line, but don't really like the looks of the JLs.
Your Toyota's a good truck. Good luck and many happy miles to you both!
Ah, never mind. She’s got seniority. Far be it from me to step on someone’s feet just for a truck....oooops, I mean a good man.
I have a 2010 Tacoma. 150,000 miles on it, still solid. Even with a small plow setup for my driveway, just the usual maintenance.
Don't know about that. We've got a 2004 Dodge Dakota with the 4.7 V8 that we bought in 2007 with about 105,000 miles on it. It now has 310,000 miles on it, plus another 90,000+ being dragged around behind our motorcoach.
Now I will say that at about 295,000 miles #7 cylinder gave up the ghost and dropped to about 20psi, while all the others are still up at 120+.
It still runs great, and will do 75-80 on the Interstate with no problems. It smokes a little, and uses a quart of oil every two weeks or so.
We keep it as a back-up vehicle for our Jeep Liberty, which has the same engine in it, but the 6 cyl. version.
Great truck. At least they used to be...
Worst acronym in automobile history.
(chortle)
Automotive history, rather...
TRD???
Yeah ... there’s two ways to pronounce that.
Really awesome looking truck until you see that decal....
Then I just split my sides laughing, thinking...
Talk about polishing a TRD...
A coil pack was more than a brand new Toyota?
Kidding... One of my dream cars. I only wish we could get them with a diesel. I have been looking at the Chevy Colorado with the diesel. But since my 22 year old beater with 200k is still going strong I will keep on waiting.
Have fun. Those Toyotas are great rigs.
The ranch Tacoma has over 289,000. It gets beat. When the “check engine” light came on I just stripped all the smog equipment since we don’t have to worry about it. I think next year I will put a snow plow on it.
I suppose they did not have an electric version?...
You be killing the planet with that new truck of yours : )
Top Gear always liked the Tacoma trucks.

congrats!! though I would never do it again!! My days of needing to impress anyone are well over. I’m on my 6th year on my latest $1500 van. I put 2K into it in that 6 years so its actually a $3500 vehicle. Nooooooo way I would put myself on the hook for 60K and the vehicle not last 6 years!! Ihavent bought a new vehicle since ‘99 and within 4 years i needed an engine rebuild in under 110k miles...
great to be stylish, but i’ll stick with throw aways until im dead!
I totally understand that and being comfortable is my number one with a vehicle
At 6’ with shoulder two feet wide 80% of car seats are hell for me after a few minutes
You are a very wise person. Congratulations!
Isn’t it great to read something fun and uplifting once in awhile?
I bought a 1995 Toyota T100 (predecessor to the Tundra) with 40K miles on it. It has 173k now and its my daily driver.
Your Tacoma should give you years of service.
