With my cherubism/giant cell granulomas I have had 12+ dentists, oral surgeons, ENTs, etc pass me onto someone else. If it weren’t for living near a prominent academic medical center I would be without any doctor at all. I have also discovered that many doctors fall victim to the “appeal to the expert” fallacy. Basically they believe what any expert has told them and refuse to do any research for themselves.
Medicine has been doing that for ages, going back to Galen.
And when challenged, they turn on the "Don't You Know I Am A Doctor?!"™ mode. Because Science!™ of course.
