Don’t California my Texas? Too late.
Dallas Morning News ^ | Dec 11, 2022 | Dallas Cothrum

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” may be the most famous sentence in the English language. In Texas, however, the seminal sentence came from Larry McMurtry’s In a Narrow Grave, when he remarked, “Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas without eating a chicken fried steak.”

Little did McMurtry know that the frontier for chicken fried steak was closing when he penned those words in 1968. The blue-plate mainstay is now an endangered species with the best offering in these fair parts coming from, of all places, an Italian restaurant on Greenville Avenue, Prego Pasta House. Talk about a cowboy’s lament. Perhaps I should have realized that the demise of the Highland Park Cafeteria was a “Last Picture Show” for Dallas.

Times have changed drastically, and the city of Dallas has largely seceded from the state of Texas. If there was a television show today about the largess of Texas, it would surely be set in Fort Worth, and J.R. Ewing and his nefarious relatives almost surely would office in a tower off Sundance Square and have a ranch in Southlake. (As an aside, at the end of the eighth season of Dallas in 1985, Bobby Ewing was run over and “killed” at the Lakewood home of my grandfather, W.H. Cothrum, who had developed the first mall in Dallas at Lochwood in the 1950s.)

No wonder Californians can settle in Dallas with such ease. Dalifornia started before they arrived, and someone left the light on for them. Dallas Country last voted for a Republican for statewide office, David Dewhurst, in 2010. Since 2004, Dallas County has voted Democratic in each presidential cycle, and the percentage gain continues to grow — nearly two-thirds in 2020. Federal election statistics demonstrate that 153,875 people

I live in Texas. It’s over. If illegals don’t get us all the influx from California, Illinois Albuquerque, you name it they’re here. If congresswoman Flores could not retain the district she won a few months ago, what does that tell you. So far everything that I have warned people on freerepublic about elections and Texas have or are coming true. Sooner or later Texas is going to flip blue. It is at the tipping point now. So extremely sorry to report that Texas is slipping through our fingers fast because the Democrats have perfected their election skills to the point that Republicans will never be able to catch up to them. Anyway, the swamp too runs extremely deep in the Republican establishment backstabbing POS as well. While our fat cake eating diva bitch chairwoman is enjoying her million dollar mansion and expensive trips along with her caviar and champagne lifestyle at the expense of the peasant donors, this is one reason why we don’t win elections anymore. This is why We ain’t got a longhorn stinking chance of retaining Texas.

I have been told that the difference between chicken fried steak and country fried steak is that the chicken fried variety has white gravy while the other has brown gravy. In California, good chicken fried steak is available at the Pepper Shaker restaurant in La Habra.

Do you have a link to that?

The link is to the Dallas Morning News, but it reports on CNN exit poll results, which I believe can be found there also.

Native Texans voted for native Texan Beto O'Rourke, transplants went for Ted Cruz, exit poll shows

The gravy may be part of it, but I think a bigger part is how it is prepared … tenderizing and oil used to fry.

Chicken Fried Steak made in Texas literally melts in your mouth …. Hard to imitate that!

TExas is going blue. Through both illegal immigration and immigration from Commie states. Austin started it, Then Denton, now Dallas Fort Worth. It will be like any other blue state where a couple massive cities dictate everything in the rest of the state.

Texas will stay at least purple, as more Hispanics are voting Republican. We also have a grass roots conservative organization called the True Texas Project. It won’t be easy, but Texas isn’t ready to go Blue just yet.

Same in Alaska. Anyone that claims this state is solid red is a self-deluded fool. Our state Senate has a majority and they decided to form a coalition with Dims, and they even flipping out a Dim in charge!? What the literal ****bleep***!
And this ranked choice BS is the death-knell. This state is on a slow fade that’s gonna go down fast.

It's systematic vote-rigging.

I ran the Obama 2008 Vote Fraud Detection tool on Texas, and you can see what they are doing.

In 2016, they did the rigging in the border counties as part of The Narrative for Hillary - but in 2020, they used the brute force IT method - most populous counties.

Democrat "votes" in the border counties dried up. There weren't enough "votes" in those smaller counties.

Jarrod Birmingham performs a song called “I don’t live in Dallas, I live in Texas”. I love it.
