I find it amazing that people are losing their minds over this.
It is a stupid marketing thing. It raises money. It aims at a certain segment of the Trump supporting electorate, nothing more. I see it as no more impactful than the hundreds of junk emails I get from the Trump campaign.
I think digital currency is both asinine and extremely dangerous. I think the NFT concept is a niche thing but I am not interested. I think the cartoon character is silly, even a little funny, but it isn’t my thing.
But seeing people screaming that oh my God, it is so un-Presidential, below the dignity of the office or whatever else is completely hysterical.
It has zero with a functioning economy under Trump. It has zero to do with peace treaties pursued by Trump. It has zero to do with playing hardball with the Communists, as Trump was doing. It has zero to do with combatting The Swamp. It has zero to do with election integrity. It has zero to do with low inflation. It has zero to do with the corruption of the DOJ, FBI, and the intelligence agencies. It has zero to do with the gutting of the military.
If this is what is the last straw for “principled people”, then they never had any “principles” to begin with.
Spot on.
What really bothered a lot of people is the "MAJOR ANNOUCEMENT" teaser, which the vast majority of folks assumed would be something related to his candidacy, problems confronting the country, etc.. So when he posted this MAJOR ANNOUCEMENT and it was just these NFT's, they were ticked.
The fact that he actually put something out later in the day that was substantive, after deliberately sucking all the oxygen out of the room with the NFT's, kind of makes it worse because the NFT story, quite predictably, buried the substance.
I really don’t get why people are losing their minds over this. It doesn’t seem any worse than a candidate selling bumper stickers or hats. NFTs are pretty stupid and about a year past their prime but people crying over this seem a bit phony
I do too. NFTs have been around for a while now - people forget that even in the tulip bulb craze the ones first in and out at the peak made money. At the worst you have a historical curiosity like a genuine WIN button or a Madam President Newsweek cover. The people most ridiculing this will be doing it themselves before long.
It’s not the first time the TRUMPS have sold digital images...
Melania Trump sells digital painting of her eyes (2021)
Amen brother, to everything you said.
