I just saw a trailer for a movie last night. The characters were talking about seeding the atmosphere with G23 to calm the population so they wouldn't care about fighting. The unintended consequence is they didn't care about doing anything and the population died.
You could make an argument that bringing robots in to do the work that humans do today would reduce the humans to useless, purposeless individuals living like parasites on some external source of largess. Not a good formula for a successful, thriving civilization.
It would finally give the working class some time to rob some stores.
