Truman, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, and Obama were all Senators before becoming President. Senators and governors seem to be the inside track to the White House.
Ford was NOT a senator! He was in the House.
Legislators generally make mediocre to poor presidents as your list aptly demonstrates. It’s an executive position and governor is a far better preparation. Reagan said something to that effect.
