oops, that would be a million times longer to get to a millisecond ...

Thanks! That is a worthwhile video, for sure.

Its al least 10 years out. More because of the many EPA regulations, permits & licensees etc, enviro-wacko lawsuits, and the fact that they have not succeeded in scaling it up. Then they would have to actually build one so add more years for permits lawsuits licenses regulations building inspectors inspections.

The chances of it happening are less than one might think. The greens and the left will jump on it to ban it as soon as it becomes viable.

So...no more climate change to worry about?

This pipe dream probably comes out only to bump stock prices in some areas.

“a lot of technical and engineering challenges” is putting it mildly. Politicians are giddy about this and rushing to the mics to take credit for being a part of it (they’re not.) Knowledgeable physicists are far more restrained. Interesting discussion at WUWT.

Ahhh, yes. The 'Mr. Fusion' car reactor from "Back To The Future".

The Sun can afford to piss energy away, generating light, neutrons and storing a bunch up in larger fused nuclei. It is collapsing under its own gravity.

These “scientists” are chasing money.

Thank you for the link in your Post 7. It shows once again that scientists and grant grabbers intentionally leave out calculations in order to justify their budgets.

We are a long way from fusion power.

Next major milestone will be in 2072. A doubling of the 2022 test results.

No, nuclear releases are matter being converted to energy.

Yea, follow the science. Right to their bank accounts.

Does anyone else think this fusion breakthrough timing is very convenient?

Just when states are passing laws banning sale of ICE vehicles by 2030 and requiring the phaseout of fossil fuels and that solar and wind inadequacy has become obvious in Europe, the argument against banning fossil fuels is now moot. We will suddenly have clean fusion energy with as early as ten years (although 50 or 60 years was first claimed), so don’t worry. Go ahead and ban those evil fossil fuels. Trust us.

Why use so much pressure. Can’t they simply ask the hydrogen atoms nicely to come together? I mean...It’s a hell of a start that could be made into a monster...if we all pull together as a team.
