I’m the other way round; I don’t like virtual.
End of Nov I got a call from someone saying “Hello (my name), this is (front desk lady’s name) from Dr (Medicare Dr’s last name)’s office; please call xxx-xxx-xxx to set up your Medicare plan”.
The phone number they gave was different from the Dr’s real number, so I called the real number and got the front desk lady and asked her if she had just called.
She said she didn’t, and I told her about the call I had received, and that it looked like her computer system had been compromised, since the caller had both my name and hers, plus the Medicare Dr’s last name.
She didn’t seem worried at all.
I never used the patient portal in the past, and certainly won’t use it now and in future.
My current doctor has a patient portal but all I use if for is to check my labs. All three of my husband’s doctors use patient portals and so far no problem.
You have to be very careful now. My granddaughter uses virtual doctors. They are real doctors with video chat. A lot of the insurance companies are advocating for virtual because it keeps the sick away from people that just need labs, etc. done.
