I heard Victoria Secrets is looking for plus sized models. She’s got that!
Are you one of those EVPs - Extra Voluminous Persons? Gotta fly somewhere? Then do us normally sized persons a favor and when you make your reservation say something: “I’m pretty heavy and don’t think I can comfortably fit into a seat”. Many airlines will sell you an adjacent seat for half price.
she’d better not fall on tattoo.
Dot.
She can only fly on “Jumbo” jets.
If she can’t buckle the belt that’s a safety issue. Her safety. Fact is there was a time that she could indeed fit so she met the requirements. It’s unclear what changed. Was it a difference in jump seat dimensions on another style of aircraft? Did she gain weight? If they treated a similarly situated flight attendant differently and gave one time to slim down but not this one, it’s discrimination. Not sure why this is news. There’s likely details we are missing.
Give her 2 seats and take it out of her pay for each flight. Cheaper than a lawsuit
It’s definitely a deterrent from being a regular reader. Also their comments loading separately now is inexcusable.
One of our heavy relatives was denied several rides at Disneyland b/c he was too heavy.
Should he sue?
I’ve seen them hand out seat belt extenders to a pregnant women to accommodate her. Just issue her a set and move on, unless she can’t move down the center isle and fit through the emergency exit row and emergency exit door. If she’s been an average employee, make a simple accommodation. I’m thinking that there’s other issues here.
One of my work assignments required jumpsuits and parachutes. My supervisor was 6 ft 5 in and exceeded the weight limit for the parachutes on the aircraft. He was prohibited from participation. We never had to bail out from any of our flights, but it would have been bad news for him if the incident occurred.
I can just see her on the bow of the Titanic.
Maybe, maybe not. A lot of jump seats have combination lap and shoulder belts. Much more secure than the ones ordinary passengers get.
I understand the logic, because the flight attendants have to be able to perform emergency duties after a crash, but have always felt passenger safety was low on their list.
“ Are you one of those EVPs - Extra Voluminous Persons?”
Me, extra sized?
Heck I’m the one that posted: “Whale, cow are you!”
Would an EVP post that?
😮
Yep, just lie short people have a hard time playing basketball, or skinny weak people playing football, or stupid people becoming brain surgeons.
An experience with the airlines helped change my life as well.
Back in early 2003, I too was morbidly obese (at least by the definition). I boarded a flight on a crowded airplane and made my way towards the back of the plane where I had a window seat. When I got to my row, there was a very nice looking young woman sitting in the middle seat.
I could tell she was a bit revulsed as I jammed myself into the window seat next to her. The rest of the flight, I focused on pressing up against the window so that I would not have any of my flab invading her seat.
I then went on to lose over 100 pounds and have mostly kept it off ever since.
The key point of me saying this is that I did not see this situation as being a problem with the airline not having big enough seats, I saw that the problem lied with myself.
