What is the latest thinking on here? Will the GOP nomination for president be contested or what?

Trump has announced and I think whether any one likes it or not Ron DeSantis of Florida is going to run. He would not be making the kind of comments or putting out the kind of press releases he is otherwise.

I could be wrong (?).

Rand is also making sure he is in the media a lot. He might be thinking about it. He ran in '16 if you remember.

Others will no doubt jump in for the attention and potential $. I'm thinking others with little chance i.e Larry Hogan.

Nothing is inevitable in politics I have come to know this!

Yes he would but being a “politician” he would NEVER clean up the mess the Swamp and the Deep State have become...Hed fire a few people and wed be back to business as usual...Pretending we have Republic..

Most of the pubbies in the house will talk big but their main focus will be to keep the Swamp and deep state in power so they can be reelected...its how it works in a Banana Republic ..

The one thing that DeSantis has over Trump is that he was in congress. If deep down he is truly conservative, then he will know who the swamp creatures are and avoid them.

If he is just pretending to be conservative, or if he is subject to corruption, then he will eventually align himself with the swamp creatures.

Everything he has done to date suggests he is a true conservative. Florida was a purple state, and he could have won election by running as a squishy RINO, but instead he chose to run as a solid conservative.

I don't know how he would do on national or foreign policy. I do believe he would do his best to shut down illegal immigration and carry on other policies that Trump started such as eliminating useless regulations. I believe he would fight back against the CDC more than Trump did.

However, he might not be as adamant for tariffs as Trump and he may be more open to endless wars abroad. We would just have to wait and see.

The country is already ablaze and probably beyond saving as a Republic.....TRUMP has proved that...the Deep state and the swamp is REAL.....who do you think would expose it more or clean it up besides Trump???

That's not the question. I (and many other people) have voted for Mr. Trump multiple times AND donated to his campaigns for those reasons.

The question is, how many of the "Nobody But Trump!" crowd will sit out the election (or vote D@mocrat/third-party, just like the "Anybody But Trump!" crowd) if somebody else is the Republican nominee?

If it's enough to keep the D@mocrats in the White House, then...
