Wahl’s agent, Tim Scanlan, told the New York Times that Wahl had been in the press tribune in the closing minutes of the quarterfinal game when he went into acute distress.
Scanlan said that he is believed to have died at a hospital or while he was being taken to one after feeling unwell.
“He wasn’t sleeping well, and I asked him if he tried melatonin or anything like,” Scanlan said. “He said, ‘I just need to like relax for a bit.’”
Eric believed foul play was involved after claiming his brother was receiving death threats over wearing a rainbow shirt in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Check out his wife’s background from Johns Hopkins to the U of Washington, the Gates Foundation to co-hosting a podcast with Ron Klain and serving on ol’ Joe’s Covid transition team:
“In 2000, she received a Master of Science degree in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with her thesis “Field evaluation of a rapid immunochromatographic test for tuberculosis”.[3] At the University of Washington School of Medicine, she earned a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2004.[6][7] While in medical school, she co-founded the International Health Group, which advocates for doctors training to serve disadvantaged people around the world.[7][8] She completed her residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.[7]
Career
Gounder’s first position was as a post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she researched TB and HIV in sub-Saharan Africa and served as Director for Delivery in the Consortium to Respond Effectively to the AIDS/TB Epidemic, which was funded by the Gates Foundation.[6][7] She then joined the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene working on control of TB in the city.[6][7]
Starting in 2018, Gounder practiced medicine part-time while addressing her long time concerns with health issues as a medical journalist.[7] She was on the editorial advisory board of TEDMED[9] and has published articles about infectious disease and other medical topics in media including The New Yorker and The Atlantic, and has appeared on TV news and talk shows.[7]
In 2017, Gounder founded Just Human Productions, a non-profit media organization that uses storytelling in an effort to impact public health.[10] Gounder produced the podcast American Diagnosis, focusing on diverse health topics. With the rise of COVID-19, she created the podcast Epidemic, which she cohosted with Biden-advisor Ron Klain.[2]
On November 9, 2020, Gounder was named as a member of the COVID-19 Advisory Board of U.S. president-elect Joe Biden.[11]”

I believe that was in support of his brother (and to go along with general wokeness), but take a look at his wife’s background, including co-founding an international health organization, and one might consider how covering soccer as a journalist could give someone another kind of global cover as well.
Wifey made sure he was vaxxed to the max!
They mentioned his death after the Morrico/Portugal game.
I believe I read about a youngster in UK who took ill watching a game. Believe it was a massive stroke.
You forgot the rare but compelling “Gooooooooooooooal!”
And subsequent off side call.
He was detained for 30 minutes and released with an apology.
I have no desire to visit one, either. But the way things are going, we may fund ourselves living in one someday.
He described his cough as a “death rattle.”
Earlier in the week, Wahl shared that he had been ill for more than 10 days.
“What had been a cold over the last 10 days turned into something more severe on the night of the USA-Netherlands game, and I could feel my upper chest take on a new level of pressure and discomfort,” he wrote on his website.
😑 fund = find
Gues who his wife was.

I can’t believe these people. They love the “exotic, alien” landscape available in a place like Qatar, then they get there, complain, and piss on the beliefs and customs of the people who live there.
weird. i’m kinda off the grid today but saw a little on line about this. one of the articles showed a pic of him with a shirt with rainbow on it and I started wondering if the pic was taken in Qatar or not.
for his sake and his families sake, I hope it was just an unfortunate tragedy and not the vaxx and not because of his clothing.
A milder form of death thanks to Adolf Fauci.
I live in Israel and took my visibly Jewish, orthodox family to Dubai for vacation this summer.
Phenomenal place. Can’t wait to go back.
Sounds like she had him lined up for his tenth booster as soon as he got back.
Safe and effective, or so says his wife
safe and effective
I would never go to a Muslim country.…
. . . . .
Especially wearing a rainbow shirt.
Must be the “clot shot.” AmIRight?
