Don’t mess with cranky old people they’ll gut shoot you, just to watch you die slow.

Gives ‘em something to do after breakfast.

After lunch they nap...

Thanks for the kind words and advice. You’re absolutely right- walking is a good start, but bicycling would be better. My heart can certainly use the workout, and I really need to burn some calories and lose some weight.
I’m 68, I had a liver transplant last year, and I’ve recovered nicely. But more is needed. I have stationary bike for winter and I need to use it more, but in warmer weather I need to get out.
Good health to you!

I use an indoor bike when it's cold.

I hate it, so I use various tricks to talk myself into doing it and to make it fun.

I put it in front of the TV and commit to 5 minutes (3 works just as well). Then get off and do something else (squats, jog in place, just use some light weights, or just move around). Focus on whatever is on TV and try to just keep moving.

Then get back on the bike for a few more minutes until bored, then repeat the whole cycle of getting off and moving around.

After a little while and before you know it, you will have warmed up.

Then you can get on the bike and ride a little bit hard (just what's hard for you) for a minute or whatever feels right. Then get off and just move around.

Keep repeating the process until you start to feel pooped (but not too pooped).

This is basically a "relative-to-you" high-intensity workout (HIIT).

Keep it short and make sure it's not too boring.

Very quickly your body will want more and more.

In the afternoons when I am drowsy, I start very slowly but I quickly wake up and start feeling alert and more energetic.

Long story short, you have to trick your body and mind. They are like a lazy high school athletic team. They're dumb as rocks and easy to trick. If you tell them what you are going to do, they complain the entire time.;-)

The trick is to keep it short and keep alternating.

You are the coach and your lazy bum of a body is your trainee. Be gentle but persistent.

As crazy as it sounds, your body wants to be disciplined but, like any lazy high school kid, it's going to whine and complain. After a while, your high school kid will start to get strong and stronger...and will appreciate your coaching.

I know it sounds crazy, but it works like a charm.

Was the goat raped in this crime?

Good luck.

And don't listen to your body or your mind. They are lazy as hell...and they have a thousand little ways of getting out of a workout.;-)

I keep telling myself, "I am my spirit. I am not my mind or my body. They work for me...not the other way around."

If you are going to go so far as to shoot someone take advantage of your one opportunity to save yourself a lot of trouble and finish the job.

Dead men tell no tales and there will be no your word against a criminal’s if you do.

If anyone chooses to cross my lines of demarcation uninvited, in the wrong way or at the wrong time of day they will never leave alive if I can do as I intend. I’m not having any arguments with anyone I decide to shoot.

Here is another strange story (also badly written) regarding a farm animal.

Let me guess. The thief just needed someone to love.

I’m ninety y.o., but if some thief threw my wife on the ground, I don’t think I would have stopped with one shot to the stomach. I can still work the lever on a 30-30, or the pump on a 12ga with buckshot (both I keep loaded with only three cartridges to keep long-term pressure off their springs but a box of shells attached).

I used to watch the national network news and run on the elliptical bike for work PT because the angrier I got, the more I would hit the up arrow. Finally I was rebuked by one of the other guys for my language... (^;
