When did Five Guys become a five star restaurant

$75 bucks for 4 people to eat at a 5 star restaurant? Where is that place?

In San Jose, we have this little hot dog place called Mark’s hot dogs. It’s actually an iconic little place in a little orange hut. Anyway, my brother dropped in there the other day (it’s car hop service) and bought 2 chili cheese dogs and a chocolate milkshake.....$24+ was the damage. I told him he was an idiot. Had it been me and I saw their prices, I’d have made a U-turn whilst giving them the middle finger

Same here. One visit to Five Guys, mediocre and overpriced food (and they got my order wrong), never went back. This is the first time I ever posted anything online about it.

Always very expensive and even more so in the last few months.
But at least our local 5 guys still serves high quality and it’s not skimpy either.
(And I don’t barf it up like at McD’s)

The five guys prices are right up there visible before you order. I don’t think this fellow has a valid complaint.

Quit eating fast food or quit complaining. Get off your ass and make real burgers.

Some people think ordering whatever you wish at a restaurant, regardless of price, is a virtue.

I always thought it was lazy and inconsiderate.

Paying attention to prices is a very useful concept in a capitalist society.

The Democrats make policies that make inflation the worst it has been in 40 years. Biden blames it on greedy corporations. The low information voters eat that up and think we need socialism
It really comes down to what Lincoln observed about fooling all/some of the people some/all of the time. Across US history, bad policy has gotten congresses and presidents elected, lies about it have gotten them reelected, and, less than one would hope, it has gotten them unelected. It happens, just not enough.

The exceptions I can think of are Monroe, McKinley, and Reagan. Trump should have been in the bunch.

“The price of a burger at a sit-down restaurant has been inching up for years. A decade ago, you could still have a burger & fries for just under $10. Now it is closer to $15. If you load up the burger with fixins, it’s more than that.”

I paid $9.55 (including sales tax) for a double double cheeseburger, French fries, and regular root beer at In-N-Out Burger in Prescott AZ.

I stopped going there six months ago. Never again. The only reason why I ordered it was because my son was starving for some lunch. Two small single cheeseburgers, two medium size drinks, 1 small fries, and small vanilla milkshake came to $34

Looked at the bill, it looked pretty normal to me for a mid-range family restaurant. $10.59 for a bacon cheeseburger with the works, $2.99 for a coke and $6.50 for fries. I see nothing out of the ordinary.

And a 5% tip. Not sure they have a lot of room to complain unless the sere was crap.

Just looked at the menu for the local Five Guys.
4 burgers @ 12.00 = 48.00
2 regular fries @ 6.39 = 12.78
2 bottled Cokes @ 3.59 = 7.18
5% sales tax assumed on all products = 3.40
Total is 71.36
Add in 3.53 tip and we get 74.89. About what she paid.

The burgers are a bit pricey but the cost of beef has been going up for a couple of years. The fries seem a bit over the top but it depends on how good they are and the quantity. And the cokes are also pricey. But I see no highway robbery here, just a lack of awareness as to how prices have risen in the last few years. Five Guys was upfront about their prices. The TikToker should wake up.

“When did Five Guys become a five star restaurant?! This is four hamburgers, two fries and drinks,” the video text read. She held the receipt up to the camera. The order total was $70.10, and after a $3.53 tip, came out to $74.10.

First of all the person is a cheap tipper. That is way too low! The tip should be more on the order of $10 to $15 or more.

Second, four burgers at a little over $10 each, two french fries totally $13, lots of soft drinks totally a little over $10 dollars makes a total bill of over $60, then tax brings it into the $70 range.

If this is too much, then Burger King, McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box are lower cost options with out higher cost.

Five Guys is trying to be a higher end place than those other firms. It is not like their prices are hidden.

Medium fries here is $2.49. That’s what I get. Large size is too much for one person.

In fact, medium fries are free today on the McDonald’s app

You couldn’t calculate that in your head before you placed the order?

No kidding. It's not robbery if the prices are right in front of you...before you order.

$17.52 per person for a hamberger meal for four persons does seem extreme, with the exception of not knowing if the location was one of the most expensive cities in the U.S.
