A customer couldn’t believe how high her bill was at Five Guys.
TikToker @retailcheapskate is certain the burger franchise is highway robbery. After ordering dinner, she was stunned by the $74 price tag that came with it. When she posted a receipt for the meal, it sparked a debate.
“When did Five Guys become a five star restaurant?! This is four hamburgers, two fries and drinks,” the video text read.
She held the receipt up to the camera. The order total was $70.10, and after a $3.53 tip, came out to $74.10.
“Five Guys is highway robbery!” she wrote in the caption.
The video received over 1.8 million views.

Yes, we quit going there as well because of the excessive high price
I am trying to understand why someone would tip for a fast food place that doesn’t have table service.
it is not table service
i dont tip for self serve
My go to meal at Mickey D’s is the double cheeseburger and fries for 3 bucks, and then the 1 dollar any size drink. 4 bucks and just fine for me.
The amount was so low I have to wonder if a gratuity is automatically included if the bill is over a certain total.
1) Never buy the drinks.
2) If you have burger craving BAD, 5 Guys is great
Those prices are out of date. Ie Bacon cheeseburgers are 10.59
Eh, maybe these 5 guys have durable pricing power, but I doubt it.
As long as the guy paid his bill.....
The bill was $65 before tax
The price of a burger at a sit-down restaurant has been inching up for years. A decade ago, you could still have a burger & fries for just under $10. Now it is closer to $15. If you load up the burger with fixins, it’s more than that.
The cost per person was $16.30 before tax and tip. I do wonder whether the gratuity is automatic on orders over a certain amount. If not she sure lives up to her cheapskate name. If she can afford $71.00 (rounded up) meal she can fork over at least a 10% tip.
$3.53 tip? What a cheap broad. 5%
The woman is
A) Desperate: Went to "Five Guys" to get some satisfaction.
B) Obese: Ordered enough to feed an elephant.
C) Stupid: (Can't add.) "The order total was $70.10, and after a $3.53 tip, came out to $74.10." Shouldn't that be $73.63?
D) Cheap: A $3.53 tip on a $74.10 bill?
E) All of the above. A classic Leftist
Mcdonalds has similar prices
You couldn’t calculate that in your head before you placed the order?
This is the same mentality that buried you in student loan debt.
Uh, the prices are posted right up in front. Unless she couldn’t do basic addition, possibly some basic multiplication (three burgers at x per burger, or x + x + x), there should have been no surprise. I was not shocked by the $35 price tag for two doubles made the way we wanted and a large fry. But I was torqued that the large fry came in soggy and we got it to go, so didn’t realize just how soggy they were until we got home. It’s not an everyday meal. It’s an occasional treat.
In n out is cheaper than McDonald’s
I like 5 guys. I have to watch out for the grease in the fries, though. Grease doesn’t always agree with me nowadays.
