A customer couldn’t believe how high her bill was at Five Guys.
TikToker @retailcheapskate is certain the burger franchise is highway robbery. After ordering dinner, she was stunned by the $74 price tag that came with it. When she posted a receipt for the meal, it sparked a debate.
“When did Five Guys become a five star restaurant?! This is four hamburgers, two fries and drinks,” the video text read.
She held the receipt up to the camera. The order total was $70.10, and after a $3.53 tip, came out to $74.10.
“Five Guys is highway robbery!” she wrote in the caption.
The video received over 1.8 million views.

There was a little burger place in Carthage, Missouri we would eat at on our way back to Oklahoma from visiting my grandparents in Kansas, City. The drive back was usually timed to be in Carthage about lunch time on Sunday. We would usually eat in the city park near the band stand. The park was well kept and quiet off the main street of US 71, now I-49 that of course does not run through town now.
The place was a small white block building next to one of those huge turn of the century white houses common to what were the tree-lined streets of Carthage. The owner and cook at the little burger place lived in the big right next door.
The owner and cook, one and the same, looked like one of those old time soda fountain guys. White pants, white shirt, white apron, white double pointed paper hat and black framed glasses. Always spotless and always friendly. He took care of his place and his job.
The burgers were standard size but delicious with fresh and quality ingredients, just simple but hot with fresh bread. If you ordered multiple burgers they came in repurposed bun boxes. They were five for a dollar and I could eat five with ketchup only.
The place is long gone but the decades old memories of it and lunch in the park with the family are as fresh as yesterday.
Truly better days than these. You can have what is left and my share of it when I am gone.
Says right on the menu: “The first time you buy a burger from Five Guys, you might find it to be very expensive. However, when you factor in the quality, taste, size, and freshness, it is actually a reasonable price. However, Five Guys prices are still more expensive than your average burger and fries fast-food restaurants.”
My kinda spot. And I bet the fries are like steak fries not micky D stingies.
Here from the article:
“...she replied, ‘Woof I disagree.’”

You decide. I already did: I’m guessing she doesn’t vote. Or at least not willfully. (Oh, wether or not I got the voting wrong, I got the sex wrong: a chick, not a dude)
The fries are awesome, and they give you so many that one order usually is good for three people.
People here dislike someone who complains about inflation at five guys more than they do the prices which where I live are ten dollars plus for bacon cheese burger
Surprises me
If they just assume she’s a leftists and lash out
God love this place
Warmest folks lol
Good one. Needs an image:

Martin: Well, I got my black coffee - of course, it was more expensive than a whole meal used to be. Time was, you
could get two eggs, potatoes, choice of breakfast meats.....
Frasier: And still get change back from the nickel!
home made is best anyway.
somehow I feel better eating at In and Out....
OT.....what are you hearing about those murders in Moscow?...anything?
I was out on a job and the nearest place was a 5-guys. I looked at the prices and almost left but figured it wasn’t worth it to find another place and drive 2 miles.
Plus I could charge it to the job. Burger and Fries and a soda was $24 something iirc.
just was in Franklin....ate at a Mexican place and then an Italian place.....
I used to go to the Old Town Alexandria location and get a burger and fries for a $10 bill on payday. The greasy bag was iconic and the fragrance of spices and the malt vinegar drew my co-workers attention. I always had them grubbing for fries and peanuts.
I don’t think this country will recover from this inflationary period. A lot of the conveniences we enjoyed under Reagan’s era of prosperity are slowing going away. We have lived through Pax America IMO (Post WW2) and I don’t envy the future generations. The Chinese will not be benevolent masters.
The French fries are the best item there. They are a 9 out of 10. Unfortunately, the two locations near me closed down.
theyve always been pricey. and the extra amount of fries they ridiculously throw in the bag is their seller. but, that has never been enough to draw me back after onle going there twice...
Subway and Tubbeys $5.00 foot longs?? remember those?? 3 months ago at tubbeys, a ft long Pizza Steak and Cheese was $13.75 I wont ever go back there either...
We just need to raise the minimum wage so people can afford these higher prices. /s
Nothing more than we’ve read here on FR. It’s gone disappointingly silent.
You make the order at a counter. I don’t tip if I do the serving.
