English is a dynamic, completely unprejudiced language that’s willing to absorb influences from every part of the world, and is at its best when people follow rules that encourage clarity at an essay’s micro and macro levels.

A good English teacher is one who conveys all of this to her students, explaining why our language is awesome and why the rules matter—and then proceeding to teach her students these rules. Once a student has mastered his mother tongue, he is able to go out and, in theory, conquer the world. Why? Because all human interactions rely on communication, and he who communicates best has an advantage.

An English teacher who should rightly be fired on the spot.
Either do your job or you are fired. Bye.

I see an English teacher doing a juggling act with the English language. If she wants to juggle, she should join the circus.

I’m no longer sure who is the biggest enemy of this country. Journalists or teachers?

My personal opinion is...the English Language, if spoken properly, is one of the most beautiful languages in the world.

I looked for an antonym for the word “teacher”: someone who unteaches. Apparently she is the first. A knowledge destroyer.

She’s right. She IS part of the problem. Only the problem isn’t the language.

All languages have rules, and some are complicated. Compared to other Latin-based languages, English can be rather difficult, and that is because it is so adaptive. However, as native speakers, we should be able to learn it easily. If native German speakers and Japanese speakers can learn it, so can the kids out of the ghetto. It all comes down to drive and the quality of teachers.

I’m normally great with language (I found Spanish and German intuitive and easy - very logical rules), but Japanese eluded me. My husband aced his high school Italian classes without even buying a book for the class, and my brother became fluent enough in Japanese to travel there numerous times and communicate without the aid of a translator.

See? Drive. Simple answer.

If it’s a supreme language... why would she want to deny a ‘lesser child’ (her opinion) the keys of supremacy, making them equals?

She is probably under contract so firing immediately may not be an option. However no law (in Texas anyway) requires the school district to offer a new contract when the time comes nor does any law require a glowing recommendation letter be issued by the district. What should happen is during her contractual interview it should be suggested that Payless Shoes is hiring.

The stupid runs deep with this one. She is a middle aged high school English teacher who is disturbed to learn that languages have rules, because rules are oppressive.

And because English developed in a backwater inhabited by melanin deprived people, its rules are white supremacist.

Given the fact that the two most technical and scientific languages out there are Russian and English, it appears at this teacher might be a slacker who’s too lazy to really understand the language that they were born into.

Winston Churchill once said that he failed grammar one year in his schooling and he had to repeat it, and in the course of repeating it he had to skip Latin altogether which may have been the reason why he was strong and grammar and was able to write as well as he did.

As an aside, I would have to agree with Sir Harry Flashman about the best way to learn a foreign language ...

Flashman claimed that the best way to learn a language is in bed with a hooker that speaks that language. He said that he learned more Greek from one encounter with a Greek whore than in all his years at Rugby.

She needs to relax. English will not be around much longer; millions murder it every day.
