The football player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has agreed to join a top Saudi team in a contract worth over $200 million per year, according to a media report.

Following Portugal's match against Ghana last week during the ongoing World Cup games, in which Ronaldo made history by becoming the first player to score in five World Cups, CBS Sports reported that Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr Club was ready to present the famed player with a three-year deal. No confirmation was publicly made at the time.

The 37-year-old Portugal captain and former Manchester United player has now reportedly agreed to a $207 million-a-year contract, according to the Spanish sports newspaper, Marca.

The deal would see Ronaldo play for two and a half years for Al Nassr, one of Saudi Arabia's most successful football clubs, which won the Saudi Super Cup in both 2020 and 2021. It is currently managed by Rudi Garcia, a Frenchman who has previously coached the clubs Roma, Marseille and Lyon.

Ronaldo's reported agreement – which has not been confirmed or officially announced by Al Nassr – comes after years of the Kingdom attempting to lure him with a number of multi-million dollar deals, with the player having turned down one early last year, which offered to make him the face of the Gulf State's tourism industry.

From beginning to end...it’s in the 700-million dollar range. The selling point to this....there is no personal income tax involved...so it’s pure profit for him. Somewhere down the line, he’ll dump his citizenship...take up Saudi citizenship, and the 700-million will carry him through the rest of his life in a great way.

My prediction is that in four years....he’s a private tutor at some Saudi soccer academy.
