The COP27 climate change conference wrapped up last month. World leaders flew in private jets to Egypt to discuss how fossil fuels were quickly heating the planet to the point of no return, as humanity was doomed if crucial climate change policies weren't implemented. But while the climate alarmist leaders met in the desert, November's snowfall across the Northern Hemisphere was running at rates exceeding a half-a-century average.
NOAA and Rutgers University released new data that showed snow cover across the Northern Hemisphere reached the highest level since measurements began in 1967 and are currently above the 56-year mean.
Here's the Rutgers Global Snow Lab snow coverage map across the Northern Hemisphere.
And another from NOAA with more resolution.
"Extensive snow extent early in the season is an indicator of persistent cold as we head into winter proper," weather blog Severe Weather Europe said.
Most mainstream media outlets overlooked this data because it is an inconvenient truth for the climate change narrative they're pushing.
A severe winter for the Northern Hemisphere might complicate power grids for western countries that are hellbent on disrupting energy flows by sanctioning Russia, forcing the world into the worst energy crisis in a generation. Since the US and Europe's natural gas storage facilities have flipped into withdrawal season, the clock starts as storage levels could quickly wind down if temperatures stay below average, which would continue to boost energy prices.
November was unusually cold in most of western Canada and the Pacific northwest states, some distance into the northern plains states also. Where I live, November is usually rather damp with a lot of mixed sleety rain/snow, temperatures generally a bit above freezing, but this past month it has been well below freezing, occasional snow but no mixed crap or rain at all. It was probably one of the coldest Novembers on record, certainly a lot colder than the last four or five.
This cold air got to the east coast for about a week in mid-November but then the regime returned to warmer than average as it had been early in the month. I would look for variable conditions in the east for most of this month eventually leading to a big storm in the northeast mid to late December. The cold is going to take over larger portions of the central U.S. in the coming week, and it will stay quite cold in the west.
Some people in the research field think this may be a response to last year’s large eruption in Tonga which sent a lot of water vapour into the stratosphere. This has had some effect on the atmospheric circulation patterns over the Pacific and set up an unusual blocking ridge out to the west of Oregon and Washington. We’re getting the northerly flow around that straight out of the high arctic where it’s near -30 F now. Another big blocking ridge has set up near Greenland and that’s leading to the very cold regime setting up now in Europe. With the supply problems around the world, this was not the best winter for a 1970s redux, but it seems to be what is going to happen. At least I have electric heat here so no expensive fuels and the price of electricity here is stable.
“Its the Ice Age returning.
Really it’s winter coming sooner than expected.”
Yep...
Damned global warming!
Wasn’t the poster of that movie about Global Warming have NYC covered in ice? Something about global warming slowing down the Gulf Current so it didn’t go up the East Coast, therefore allowing cold water to go south and cause hundreds of feet of snow and ice to cover NYC.
It is all very scientific you know.
It is summer now in the southern hemisphere and the increased global temperatures cause the lakes and rivers to evaporate more. That hot air rises and goes north, which is “up” on the map.
There it is winter and the water vapor cools and it snows. So voila - global warming causes more snow. And somehow we need to send $13 trillion to places like Africa for stealing all of their water.
Has that stupid “hockey stick” model ever predicted the weather correctly?
Ever?
EVER?
“Northern Hemisphere Snow Cover at Record High”
2014 NY Times “We could be seeing the end of snow”
Peter Fox, the editor of Powder magazine, suggested “The End Of Snow?” in a February 2014 op-ed. Fox lamented the cancelation of two events at the winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia that year, and noted predictions that some cities would be too warm to even hold the winter games.
“[W]ith a rise in the average global temperature of more than 7 degrees Fahrenheit possible by 2100, there might not be that many snowy regions left in which to hold the Games,” Fox wrote for The NYT.

Remember Obama said the discussion is over so the Climate Cult is putting their insane plan in place
Sadly a tough winter may cause thousands of deaths. People in many parts of the country are already struggling to buy food as a result of Biden inflation. Add to that is the cost of heating our homes has skyrocketed and there may be shortages of home heating oil and electric grid failures alas a result of Biden energy policies. Many, especially the elderly, this winter may be forced to choose between eating or heating.
We all are gonna diiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee.😱🙄
