We need a young, hungry, fire breather.

Newt is none of these.

RNC chair is a better more realistic choice for him. He’s the closet to a Lee Atwater that we have.

However, he won’t do it. Probably thinks its beneath his dignity plus maybe too old.

No, the GOP couldn’t wait to get rid of him, even though he’d gotten most of the agenda through. It was a non-scandal about a perfectly normal payment for his book, but the GOP simply fled because they were actually embarrassed by the fact that he had dared to oppose the Dems and succeeded. He was really public enemy #1 to the media in those days.

What are you talking about?   That stuff you are talking about only came to light after he was gone from office. The Scandal he ran from and resigned from the House of Representatives for was his affair with Callista Bisek.

Georgia didn't care at all about his struggle in Congress for the Speakership.   A Democrat in the same situation would would have stayed in office no matter what.   Newt Gingrich tucked his tail between his legs and hightailed it out of town.

No but the sitting member Speaker typically abstains. If there is none, then that member could vote.

Would love it. Kevin McCarthy is a no. It would be republican Nancy Pelosi & Schumer.

“Why must everyone be a geriatric?”

Agreed. I’m down for DeSantis beats the cr*p out of Newsome in 2024. I believe they both have school age children.
