A tech entrepreneur in Texas wasn’t given ample time to drop a rifle he was carrying on his own front porch before he was fatally shot by police last month, his devastated family told NBC News.

“He called his friend and he said I think something’s been moved around my house.”
What was moved and who broke into his house with the intent to move things around?
Depends where you’re positioned on the car.
You’re taught behind the engine block or wheels.
With the overthrow of the Kerensky government in Russia, followed by the Communist take-over, the Okhrana (basically the Tsarist secret police) went over in mass to the Communists. Conclusion: Don’t look for moral or ethical conduct from your police force. The police only want to be paid.

Ford Upgrades Police Cars to Include Bulletproof Doors
By Sydny Shepard
Mar 11, 2016
It seems like it is a no-brainer, police cars should be bulletproof. Contrary to popular belief though, the vehicles’ doors have not been totally bulletproof until recently.
Ford Motor Company will soon be upgrading the doors on its Police Interceptor Sedans and SUVs. They’ll be the first in the U.S. to meet the Justice Department’s highest standard for body armor, the equivalent of a bulky SWAT team vest.
Ford has offered factory-installed ballistic panels on its police car doors since 2008, but the previous versions protected from handgun fire and non-armor piercing bullets. The new doors are designed to stop a .30-caliber bullet shot from a high-powered rifle like an AK-47. That is most powerful than most weapons carried by soldiers.
Whether departments have them is another matter.
In the mid-70s a good buddy was on a rather large metro area police force.
Being young and idealistic, in addition to watching pap like Adam-12, I asked how many warning shots he was supposed to fire in an armed encounter.
He said if they even think you have a gun they have the right to blow you out of your socks, no warning.
Oddly I don’t think that’s the country the Patriots were fighting for, but it’s where we are.
> The police only want to be paid. <
I get that many cops are in the profession for all the right reasons. But as you noted, some are in it for the money. Those cops don’t worry me as much as those who are in it for the power trip.
I’d need to see the bodycam video before I comment.
“Police are a bigger danger to the public than career criminals...”
That is a huge lie.
Or they could wait while someone shoots people and sort it out later.
Talk about a difficult job.
I'm not sure on this one.
I made a point of finding a place to live where such measures aren’t needed but I approve of them if one is going to live where they are needed.
“if they ever existed in the first place.”
They did indeed exist at one time.
“as long as police can shoot anyone with zero consequences for any reason, this will continue.”
There are a lot of cops in prison who would disagree.
Maybe we should send troops into battle unarmed so we don’t have friendly fire incidents.
From what I see and hear I,a juror in the cop's trial, might be inclined to vote not guilty. But I would like to see what,if any, drugs they found in him at autopsy and what,if any, psych history he had.
It's not just bad guys who should be denied access to firearms...the mentally ill should be as well.
Members of Hitler's Gestapo later joined the East German Stasi.
Reminds me of the Daniel Shaver case in Mesa, Ariz. a few years ago. Shaver was staying in a motel when someone reported that he had a gun. When the cops came, he was unarmed, but they shot him to death even as he was begging for his life. The cold-blooded murderer not only walked but was promoted.
No it isn’t.
Police have become nothing more that goobermint bullies.
I can generally avoid the criminal elements... can’t avoid the States goon squad.
Best to not have a firearm in your hands when police arrive on the scene.
A friend of mine is of the opinion that the government police forces at any level are the standing army that the Founders were against.
In a number of ways, I agree with him.
