Florida Gators redshirt freshman quarterback Jalen Kitna made his first appearance in Alachua County Court on Thursday after his arrest on Wednesday for five preliminary felony charges relating to child pornography possession and distribution.
Kitna previously admitted to sharing two images containing child sexual abuse material to the social media website Discord in an interview with Gainesville Police Department Detective Donna Montague. A search warrant of Kitna’s conducted on Wednesday led to the discovery of three additional images of child sexual abuse material in his possession upon preliminary analysis of Kitna’s electronic devices.
Sure seems like there is a uptick in child porn busts ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter . Just saying.

Sometimes I wonder if the child porn charge is not a convenient redux of the the molestation charges of the late 20th century.
A ton of ruined reputations and marriages that (as I remember) some, at least, were bogus charges.

Gainesville police said Wednesday that Kitna, 19, faces two
counts of distribution of child exploitation material and
three counts of possession of child pornography.
An ugly reality about modern life is that trading sexually explicit photos is not at all uncommon these days among high school students, many of whom are under 18.
Of course, as far as the law goes, "child porn" is defined as everything from infancy to age 17 years, 364 days.

I think a lot of high school girls are giving topless pics of themselves to their boyfriends, technically “child porn”.

The laws definitely haven't kept up with the technologies and there's a real risk of teens facing serious, life-destroying consequences for behavior that they might not have been able to fully comprehend the severity of.
The flip-inside unfortunately, is if you relax the offenses of, say, 14-17 y/o sexually explicit photos, now you'll have fully grown adult men who take up the trading and distribution of this new category of "less-criminalized" child porn.
There are no easy answers.
Prepubescent child.
No confusion.
