Yes, I agree about the sunshine and younger population. Also, fewer people in climate-controlled buildings and shopping at outdoor markets. And no nursing homes.

I agree that "nothing lasts forever" and especially in terms of adaptation to preventatives and cures in medicine, but one factor in the "Africa" question is that it is perfectly arguable that there has essentially been no pandemic there. Period.

It may well be that the whole "event" and rush to ventilate and inject $3K per patient with remdesivir contributed significantly to death rates in the US, something obviously absent in sub-Saharan Africa. After all, pre-pandemic, medical error was seen as the third highest cause of mortality.

It may turn out the "we" -- in our government's handling, warp-speed nonsense, NIAID hospital protocols and more -- are contributory problems worth adding to the picture of the whole.

Don’t think you can get HCQ at the feed store. And it is not cheap like people make you think...neither is Ivermectin for people. I was kind of shocked at how much Ivermectin cost when I got a script for it after everyone was talking about how it was only a few pennies in India

I have a one liter bottle of Ivermectin in my fridge.
We give it to our puppies/dogs as a dewormer. You measure out the amount based on weight. With the canines we squirt it on their food. With us humans we measure out a syringe and squirt it in our mouths. It has a very bitter taste. Best to wash it down with something.

Emphasizing that I'm not medically trained, please consider the following.

Many Africans may be exposed to enough sunlight to produce enough D3 to maintain healthy immune system.

On the other hand regarding only 6% Africans vaccined...

Yes, true. But I was talking about getting the Covid shots and boosters. Blacks weren’t getting them in the high numbers as the white folks. At least that is what I read.

I have no doubt Africa had far less severe problems with Covid. Although South Africa is an outlier. It also has higher rates of obesity, diabetes, etc,, too. And being more developed, more people living/working/shopping in closed climate-controlled buildings.

Hospitals are not a fun place to be (especially if you are sick!) and you can pick up various nasty bugs in them, too, so there’s that, as well. Africa doesn’t do nursing homes, either, and a heartbreakingly high number of Covid deaths in the US and other developed countries were of nursing home patients.

I think it likely that Africa fared better during Covid for a constellation of reasons.

Correct. Vaccination rates were lower among blacks in the US despite their death rate from Covid being higher.

As of today, here is the official data by which to calculate the mortality rate for South Africa.

Therefore one may repeat the claim that "Covid policies" in the US have deadlier comparatively than in South Africa, than in all of sub-Saharan Africa. Two times deadlier under Fauci, the NIAID, CDC and FDA than South Africa, as a comparison.

New conservative talk radio station here has a couple of doctors with shows and both had patients who couldn’t get an Ivermectin prescription filled. Fauci/CDC/MSM had the pharmacists all scared to fill prescriptions for HCQ/IVM. Might be different now. One patient called into the show and told his tale and how he ended up going to the feed store for apple flavored dewormer.

I saw the “guidance” that some fedgov agency sent to state pharma boards and the subsequent guidance they sent out to pharmacists. Here in MO, they didn’t say they couldn’t fill scrips but used a lot of cautionary language.

All very sad and infuriating.

It is interesting that some scientists are looking into whether some people might be genetically more susceptible to Covid, but it’s not based on race. There is some reason to think there might be something to that. Maybe we will find out if their research bears fruit.

I got my scripts in 2020. Yes, I had to shop around locally to get them filled. I think I remember the problem with ivermectin was supply but the problem with HCQ was some wouldnt fill it unless for a different use.

But now I need HCQ for something else related to autoimmune disease so easy to get but not cheap. I haven’t tried to fill an ivermectin script this year so dont know if still difficult.

I meant South Africa is an outlier compared to the rest of sub-Saharan Africa. My apologies for not being clearer. The Covid death rate in SA was significantly higher than other sub-Saharan countries. I have not seen any figures for hospitalization rates, but would guess they were higher in SA than in other sub-Saharan countries, lower than in the US.

Maybe natural immunity among the 95+% for whom Covid is not a serious illness (and in Africa go totally unidentified and unreported) works better than the current vaccines.
