The Griswold family's plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster.

If you’re near the Cleveland area, the suburb of Medina has an attraction called Christmas Noel. They’ve got props from various Christmas movies as well as Christmas windows from places like Saks 5th Ave. Amongvthings in their collection are Eddie’s camper and the slide from Higbee’s department store used in A Christmas Story. You can go down the slide.
A Christmas Carol, for me. I try to watch all the versions made over the years.
Funny Farm was funny and seemed to fly under the radar for some reason.
Chase actually lived up to all his hype as a comedian.....for once anyway.
And a very funny supporting cast made it go.
Personally......I’ve always thought Chase was prerty much a hack that couldn’t carry Bill Murray or John Belushi’s jock strap.
A couple of years ago I learned that I knew Randy Quaid fairly well, in Houston, more of that, ‘if you remember the 60s, you weren’t there’ stuff.
One of the best ever Christmas movies.
The Blessing!
I don’t KNOW, Margo!
Thats a real nice surprise, Clark...a REAL nice surprise!
Shitter was full!
Too many one liners we use everyday...
Johnny Carson hated Chevy Chase. He said Chase “couldn’t ad lib a f@rt after a baked bean dinner.”
Chase was still a huge star at the time so Carson had him on his show. Once when Chase came out to the desk, there wasn’t a chair for him. True to Carson’s complaint, Chase didn’t know what to do.
Never heard that story but it doesn’t surprise me.
If you’ve ever watched Caddyshack, you may have noticed Chase and Bill Murry have a grand total of ONE scene together in the whole movie.
That was Chases idea, not wanting to be upstaged and out acted by Murray......
I’m not a fan of Chevy Chase but he was actually pretty good in the Fletch movies.
I worked at a manufacturing company where everyone in the company had to take a monthly safety training class. The classes for manufacturing workers were often, although not always different from what us office staff got.
For the office staff, on a rotating basis each department was put in charge of putting together the presentation with approval from the Safety Team.
One December the accounting department was in charge and topic was Holiday Home Safety.
And they guy who put it together used film clips from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation to point out all the things Clark did in that movie that were safety hazards. It was hysterical!
A Christmas Story is my favorite all time Christmas movie.
Die Hard is in the mix too….for some reason
One of my favorite parts of the movie...grandma asked to say grace at dinner:
“I pledge allegiance to the flag...” and Cousin Eddie dutifully rises from his chair for the occasion.
Fletch was good...but Foul Play was outstanding! Dudley Moore: “You’re into that too?”
Chevy Chase= Hard pass-
Never thought the movie was funny. Probably because I never thought Chevy Chase was funny.
Sitting here laughing! :)
How about Eddie’s “Quality Item”?
“Play ball”! 😄
This is my all time favorite Christmas movie, yes, over “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Second fave, “The Ref” with Kevin (pedo) Spacey and Dennis Leary
The wife and I like all the older ones such as "Miracle on 34th St", "It's A Wonderful Life" and all the "Christmas Carol" versions over the years. The kids never got too into those.
The time does go by. My kids are all in their 30s now.
It's a shame the movie industry didn't put out more quality Christmas movies over the years. I'm not talking about the Lifetime Christmas movies, which crank out movies on an assembly line using variations on the same formula (Yuppie woman from the city dumps self-centered boyfriend to come back to the country and meets a man in a flannel shirt who knows how to turn a screwdriver and get her broken down car running), but a well produced Christmas movie with some lasting power.
