Oregon’s U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be awarding Oregon a total of $695,097 for sagebrush conservation efforts across the state. This funding will help support collaborative efforts by ranchers, growers, and agencies to improve habitat.
“Restoring and conserving Oregon’s sagebrush ecosystems can help to address the damage and dangers invasive species bring to important rangelands and habitat to promote a healthy environment and a strong economy,” said Senator Merkley, who used his position as Chairman of the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee to secure this funding in the infrastructure law.

“Probably talking about beef grazing.”
That is absolutely what they are talking about.
That’s probably what I should’ve put. I couldn’t remember the proper name. It’s been a controversy going back decades now.
Invasive species? You mean Californians?
LOL.

Another way to close off the land and launder millions into the Communist Party.
>Gotta protect the tumble weeds.
Different species. IIRC, Russian Thistles, aka tumble weeds came over here from Russia in flax seed shipments back in the late 1800s. So blame the Ruskies for that.
I’m reasonably certain that sage brush isn’t endangered.
They’re going after grazing. More anti-beef/climate change BS. Just a different front.
I’ve driven thru Oregon sagebrush country. There ain’t no lack of sagebrush or dirt or anything in that forsaken land. Money slush fund
I remember when the anti-hunters claimed the Prairie Dog was on the verge of extinction a few decades ago. They are everywhere in the west. Our old ranch from 70 years ago is overrun with them.
“ wiping out several hundred okd growth sagebrush plants (trees?). “
It seems to grow like a weed everywhere. Totally shocked it could in anyway be endangered!
Ain't no thang! I've come up on hunters in the Turkey woods and they asked if I had heard the drummer. Grouse will sit there and drum their wings. Many regional names apply to the same bird.
Oh indeed
