Betelgeuse is said to have already gone super nova a long time ago, some say not yet and some say it may soon. At 642.5 light years from Earth if when or if if did or does it'll certainly change the pattern in the night sky. Won't affect us though.

Not for a long while, anyway. Apparently it obscured its own luminosity with a big puff of dust and gas. Supernova more likely to occur 100K years from now.
