An NBCNews report included:
“Deputies deployed less-lethal bean bags, and Taser with negative results."

"[An Autopsy] showed that he had a .01% blood alcohol level and THC in his system, as well as amphetamine, which the Denver-based Rathod/Mohamedbhai law firm representing his family previously said was likely to be from a prescription to treat ADHD.

"[Lawyer] Rathod said that Glass was most likely having a mental crisis when he made the initial 911 call."
There's more to this story than the CBSNews report is giving

Body cam video then showed Christian Glass beginning to swing the knife wildly with his arm. That's when a Clear Creek deputy or deputies shot him.

The cops obviously should have allowed themselves to be stabbed.

I knew nothing about this case, so I searched for and watched various videos with an unbiased eye, including an extended and surprisingly balanced treatment by a local news program (”9NEWS”). The incident was very odd. The deceased was obviously having a mental health crisis, but it did not seem to pose any immediate threat to others (though he should not have been driving, but he reported the vehicle was stuck so that wasn’t a threat either).

The victim was very childlike for 22, but in the grip of paranoia and delusion. His parents’ claim of him having no prior mental health problems seems dubious. If true, then he was under the influence of some drug(s) — people don’t suddenly act like this, babble about skinwalkers, and show their heart-shaped rocks to police like a small child.
Various police spent 70 minutes trying to calm him down and gain confidence, with what appeared to be success. Guy is in his vehicle the entire time. One or two cops were aggressive and caused 100% of the violence, starting it all by smashing in a window to force the victim out of the car.
They were obviously in YOU SHALL OBEY NOW mode and created a situation in which the only path led to violence and death. That is not an effective way to deal with terrified nuts — they will predictably panic.

The other ten cops behaved reasonably from what was shown. Impatience by really one guy caused the loss of the kid’s life and will cost the department/City countless hours and millions of dollars. Communities need to have plans and resources in place for this sort of incident. It would be much cheaper than using the old ultra-violence. Verdict: Wrongful death.
