It would seem to Me that 1 well placed smoke can or tear gas in that car would have remedied the situation.
But that’s just Me.
Why was he "terrified" to exit the vehicle? Mental issues or were the cops intimidating in some manner? We've seen instances of cops going Rambo (google Daniel Shaver).
Why were the cops so keen on getting him out of the vehicle? If they were afraid for their safety I'd think they'd be better off if he remained in the vehicle.

Mene, where is that part?? From the narrative at least, his car was ‘stuck’ and what he needed was a tow truck. He seems to have remained in the vehicle being yelled at every 2 minutes for an hour (36 times) not to mention being tortured with tzers and beanbags, until the final few minutes when he seems to have exited the vehicle with his back towards the popo before turning around and stabbing himself...What kind of knife did he have? swiss army?
THis kid is from the generation that believes if a popo pulls you over, you’ll end up dead. Hence, he told police he was ‘terrified’ and, in spite of his kisses and hearts overtures, they proceded to prove his fears justified. 70 minutes was more than enough time to get a child shrink or even a parent on the phone to talk to the kid. In this case, I might vote to convict the shooters AND the person that gave permission to escallate the antagonism.
