Well, if the guy was a time traveler, likely his phone is capable to transmitting through time as well? LOL

Well the iPhone 14 is supposed to be able to use satellite communication, so it doesn’t need cell towers!

Obviously it’s Bruce Willis from 12 Monkeys.

"Transistor radio?" While I'm partial to the wristwatch or pocket watch suggestion, crystal radio sets for receiving AM radio broadcasts were popular from the 1920s up until transistors came around. No external power was required. This example has a built in earpiece.

The wires serve as/or antenna and ground. Connecting them was important depending on how strong the signal was and/or how distant the transmitting antenna was. For the two I actually tried out it was necessary to focus pretty intently on hearing the broadcast through a small earpiece.

First of all, they had two-way radios back in the 1940s. Dick Tracy had a two-way wrist radio, worn like a watch.

Why would a time traveler, whose not of our current time period, stop here in our present, pick up a cellphone, then travel to another time period where this same item is useless. It's not a cell phone it's a quantum entanglement communication device invented in the early 23rd century a few years after human time travel was made possible. But if I say any more I risk changing this timeline.

It is not a phone. Even if it were, there were NO TOWERS and NO BACKBONE to have made the unit functional.
It could be anything like a cigarette case, a pocket mirror, etc.

It is intriguing, just the same.
I've often wondered what people from the 1700s would see if dropped into our times. I bet they would be very startled.
