This isn’t some angry murderer, this is a full blown psychopath with a lust for blood and flesh.

This creep is a coward. These types of monsters are always cowards. Normally they can’t even kill themselves when cornered.

This was a practice run for the stabber. I bet he wanted dog meat for dinner. He knew just how to kill a dog, so it would not alert the dog owners with a yelp. This was something he learned back home--how to kill without a yelp--in an Asian dog market. Something must have scared him from packing up his dinner booty.

A census taker once tested me. Fortunately I had some fava beans and a bottle of Chianti.

Yeah - former Moscow resident here. It's amazing how quickly this went from "It was a crime of passion, it isn't like we have a knife-wielding psycho stalking the streets of Moscow," to "Well, maybe we do have a knife-wielding psycho stalking the streets of Moscow." Slight difference in threat level there.
The problem is that these guys aren't that easy to catch, especially if the victims really were chosen at random. If the cops know that for sure one way or another they haven't told the public yet.

I seem to remember J6 protesters being arrested by a simple geofence analysis. Same with the 2000 mules ballot box stuffers.

Yeah, I know that Moscow area very well-—drove school bus there in my school years and covered most of it. When I first heard this story it occurred to me that it would take a certain skill set to do that much damage to four people without waking someone up. Then the dog story adds to that even if it’s not related directly. Killing a dog quietly suggests a garrote. The lady who owned the dog said they found the carcus but not the pelt which means the killer packed that part off and might be a “trophy hunter?” While workable, a service style Kabar wouldn’t be a good choice as a skinner to use on a small body. And there’s no mention of how hard the sheriff worked to track down the dog killer. Betcha he goes back now to take another look?
After the killing of the four students there’s no mention of anyone leaving town in the middle of the night. There’s only four roads out so I expect the hoodlum is still there?

If the killer worked in a Asian market selling dog meat, he would know just how to kill a dog instantly with a quick stab of a knife. Such a skill would be performed so that those in the market would not be disturbed by the dogs howling as they were killed. That skill would have been acquired by killing a lot of dogs. That skill obviously worked in killing the students. I would look for an Asian student, possibly disturbed by Asian racism at the university.
