Clint found his now famous poncho in TGTBTU. He wore it in the other films of this trilogy.
Calum Russell....what a sappy review...the movie has many, many levels of meaning, In one part of the duel, the music stops, and the caw of a crow rings out...meaning that whoever dies will become food for the birds in the middle of nowhere.....great stuff...the music:stunning and memorable, the characters:real, rugged, rapacious,,,the desperation of all the characters, the filth and dirt of the scenes..Leones starkly realistic style changed the presentation of movies forever. IMHO.
“I like big men, cause when they fall, they don’t get up”
Tuco(speaking to Wallace, his tormenter)
....or
“My head is worth 3,000 dollars....how much is the army going to give you for your arm?”
Tuco (speaking to a union army vet who lost an arm)
“Thanks, half soldier”
Angel Eyes( speaking to a double bilateral total leg amputee informant) Angel eyes was cruel....but Lee Van Cleef was great in “For A few Dollars more”
There’s two kinds of people in the world Tuco. Those with guns. And, those who dig.
You dig.
“Spaghetti Westerns” were some of the greatest western movies ever. Due in no small measure to the genius performance of Clint Eastwood. A perfect match with Sergio Leone.
The “genius” of these movies wasn’t instantly acknowledged when they were released.
The term “spaghetti Western” as I recall was hardly a compliment but the proof of their worth lies in the fact Leone’s works were oft mimicked and his techniques studied and adopted by directors and cinematographers for years to come.
Classical guitar + fingerstyle playing + Morricone's genius = a spot on my Favorites list.
THAT....
...Is a great line!!!
If there are three dudes, can it truly be called a “duel”?
In this case maybe, since there were only really {spoiler alert)....
....2 dude witb the ammos.
It was much cheaper to film in Italy so many low budget westerns we’re done there. Hence the term “spaghetti western”... Comparing American westerns at the time showed great differences(to me the strong moral characters, the orderly towns, and clean housing and structures made the American movies unreal). Leones characters and building structures were all flawed....just like real people and places for the time....
Winner!
Actually, It was mostly filmed in Spain. The spaghetti part comes from the Italian film crew and extras and what ever studio work (interior sets) was done in italy.
I have listened to that many times, thanks for sharing. Ecstasy of Gold is awesome!
“…. Your spurs….”
“That’s General Sibley… he looks dead; HOORAY FOR DIXIE!!…”
Wonderful!
Brilliant!!
That cat was perfect!
I’m betting on the cat ... it’s got nine lives, after all!
It’s not my meme; I saw it years ago and ROFL’d at it.
When this thread showed up, I suddenly knew what I had to do...
