“I’ve read it several times. It isn’t just about him or flying. It lays bare the crappy lives of thr folks under communism, and reveals the unbelievably stupid, unthinking and arrogance of the communist heirarchy.”
In other words, they are just like the RATS and RINOS.

In this article and a quick search on the internet, that information was not obvious. One article seemed to say it was only the reward that he may left.

I read your essay with interest and learned much. Thanks.

My friend Dr. Hugh Ross is an astrophysicist and a famous Christian apologist and evangelist. As such he was invited to speak at several USSR scientific conferences in Moscow during the 1980s. He often tells that whenever he was there it was obvious to him that many of the Soviet scientists were heavily influenced by the occult, with numerous full-blown demoniacs acting out noisily.

Hugh was curious, of course, and so he inquired. He learned that Soviet leaders were so concerned by American progress and their increasing inability to keep pace that they deliberately sought demonic help. They prodded their scientists to interact with demons, and the results were plain for Hugh to see: not amazing technological advantage (as history records), but humans hijacked by the denizens of hell.

What I found pathetic was how Russian mechanics would drain the alcohol used for cooling the fighter jet engines out of the planes so they could get drunk.

Interesting. Two questions.
We seem to dedicate all the effort/resources to developing things now, only to let certain other parties steal/bribe the end product. Is this just the selling of the rope with which to hang us?
Secondly, we used the be the “good” guys. Now the apparatus seems to be turned inward on the very people that spent their very lives trying to protect it. Were Orwell/Huxley/etc correct that the individual was bound to become an enemy of the state?

By some accounts, the CIA tried the same thing on an experimental basis but quickly discontinued the effort because the results were so destructive of the people involved. Oddly, Putin and his former KGB associates seem to be genuine believers in some sense in Russian Orthodox Christianity. As far I can tell, Putin’s luxury resorts and palaces all have chapels.

I haven't heard Hugh mention corresponding CIA attempts, so he may be unaware. Seems like such efforts, if true, were of the same ilk as the more well-chronicled LSD trials.

Putin and his former KGB associates seem to be genuine believers in some sense in Russian Orthodox Christianity

Whatever one's past may have been, the Holy Spirit always finds plenty of sin in it over which to spur conviction and repentance, so that turning to Christ becomes a common, although not prevalent, outcome. That is His assigned role, His specialty, and how He works.

Physics is the same for everyone, and it is not entirely clear how much benefit spying is to the vast competitive enterprise of global weapons development. It may be that the US spends more and gets there first, with our adversaries following the science and noting that we got there ahead of them.

The US is still the "good guys." Our system does not prevent all evils, but it is pretty reliable in the long run at correcting abuses. Even as we are grim due to the hardness of the battle we are in and from time to time suffer defeats, we will not lose the greater struggle unless we permit ourselves to be subdued -- and I do not think that is in our nature as a free people.

Sadly I think the above applied 20 to 30 years ago. Not now.

Over the years, I have been in two major political efforts in which against all odds, we won after years of defeats. In the second of those battles, based on experience in the first, I laid out at the start to a small group of activist types against a toll road project that our strategy had to be to try everything, to expect defeats, and yet stay in the battle.

We then won by wearing down the local and state political establishments because of the careers we wrecked and that we refused to accept defeat but imposed continuous difficulties for them. That was how we prevailed after ten years, definitively winning the last few fights, making for a rare instance in which a toll road project that had been funded was defeated.

That is how we will win the current struggle, just as George Washington and the American Revolution won, going from defeat to defeat but surviving to fight another day, with just enough victories to sustain the cause. I cannot say when or how we will win our ongoing fight for freedom against the Left and the administrative state it controls, only that it is worth fighting and that, in God's good time, we will win.

A non-trivial accomplishment! Congratulations.

Thanks for your reply. With the crew running this nation at the moment, it just seems a far cry from the nation we had when I was a kid. All I know how to be is faithful to the task at hand til I’m outta here.

Me too. And I hope that, despite gray hair and the aches and pains of age, I still have a blow or two to offer toward the cause.

Now the apparatus seems to be turned inward

I would suggest we are far beyond “seems” and headed for hell at the speed of thought.

Bluffdale should be an indicator, as should Real ID, an FBI whose intentions were broadcast even before Ruby Ridge and WACO. How about the Patriot Act, and January 6th. Indeed one need no other example than Donald John Trump 45th President of these neutered United States when he said it’s not me their after but YOU!!!

Great attitude and in a State where such is respected. I deal daily with those who have had it with the more apparent losses and ever present left side of life seemingly winning against what they loosely call the stupid party.

It doesn’t take much inattention to find your momentum gone to the wind.

I think that we can find encouragement and inspiration in the story of Samuel Whittemore, a 78 year old farmer in Massachusetts during the Revolution. On April 19, 1775, after hearing that British troops intended to venture out to seize arms and ammunition stockpiled by the local militia, Whittemore took his musket with him when he went to work in his field.

Then, as British soldiers passed by in retreat from the Battles of Lexington and Concord, Whittemore shot at them, like hundreds of other patriots. In return, the British shot the old farmer in the face, bayoneted him at least six times, and clubbed him, leaving him for dead or at least dying. Whittemore's family though took him to a doctor, who patched him up -- and Whittemore lived for another 18 years.

We never known but that even in old age, great events may pass before us and offer a chance to strike a blow for liberty. Mercifully, nowadays we do that with persuasion and political activism. And just as Americans in the Revolution lost most of their battles, were constantly at the edge of defeat, but persisted until they won, we too must persist until victory in spite of setbacks and defeats along the way.

Samuel Whittemore, The Oldest, Bravest and Maybe Craziest American Revolutionary

Ahhh, the “seems” was just an attempt to sidestep the obvious.

We are in deep **** and have been for a while. Not so ticked at the other side. They are evil, have been forever and never been bashful about their goals. I AM completely disillusioned by the ones that claim to represent our values, but sell-out/fold/show their true colors when it reaches the point that something useful could actually be done about our circumstance.

You highlighted Trump. You betcha, he had to fight everybody ! And still is.
