Warm in their seats, they were loath to leave them, or hold them any longer at the will of the people - John Adams
1787 | John Adams

Posted on 11/17/2022 6:34:07 AM PST by cotton1706

"Warm in their seats, they were loath to leave them, or hold them any longer at the will of the people. With all the subtlety, and all the sagacity and address which is characteristic of this order of men in every age and nation, they prevailed on the people to relinquish for the future the right of electing counsellors in the general assembly, and the people, with their characteristic simplicity, and unbounded confidence in their rulers when they love them; became the dupes, and passed a law, that the two councils should for the future elect, or at least approve and affirm, each other." - John Adams, A Defence of the Constitutions of the United States of America, Volume I

The above quote from 1787 goes to show that what we are witnessing is nothing new. The people are not to be allowed to choose or replace those in power. The means by which THE PEOPLE affect and change and check the government has been removed - by design.

This is no conspiracy theory. Just look again to the above quote and realize that this is how men in power operate and have always operated. They will preserve their power AT ALL COST. As an example, we see that the US Senate is choosing its own membership by endorsing prospective members and causing the defeat of prospective members, the people's choices be damned.

John Adams was writing 235 years ago about governments that existed a thousand or even two thousand years before HIM. What we are witnessing is nothing new.

I can very strongly recommend this book to you: “1775: A Good Year for Revolution”.

https://www.amazon.com/1775-Good-Revolution-Kevin-Phillips/dp/0670025127/ref=sr_1_1?crid=BMDNSKIY83I7&keywords=1775+a+good+year+for+revolution&qid=1668699670&sprefix=1775+%2Caps%2C388&sr=8-1

The author is a demographer by trade, and the book is an extremely granular survey of the Colonies on the eve of Revolution. The religions in various areas, the ethnic heritage and attitudes of the peoples in the various areas. Why were some people so eager to rebel, while others more hestitant? I loaned my copy to my Dad, who said it was like drinking water out of a firehose. It’s incredibly dense with data. If you’re interested in such subjects, it’s an eye opener.

Didn't Michigan and Ohio almost go to war over their border (the strip of land which includes Toledo)?

The upshot was that Ohio lost.

Possible, but I don’t know anything about that particular squabble.

“They never conceived that men and women would live into their 80’s and 90’s staying in office their entire lives!! They did not have the medical miracles we have today how could they have possibly foreseen this!! McConnell as leader again SPIT!!”

Yesterday, I played bridge with our men’s bridge group from our church. I was probably the youngest at 84,and we discussed this relative new reality of longer life spans for the common folk not just the elites and their families.

Today, our wives and other church wives meet for their monthly lunch at local restaurants. The youngest one in that group is in her late 70’s and the rest are in their 80’s.

We have the benefit of cardiac stents, pacemakers, hip and or knee replacement and other medical miracles, our parents didn’t have re medical benefits what are the miracles that our elites and their congressits able to get.

Decades ago, congressits, presidents, Veeps and cabinet members had free top line medical care from Bethesda Naval Hospital, Walter Reed and Andrew AFB.

They could get break through care from NIH, Johns Hopkins, Ivy league medical schools, Mayos’ and Stanford plus other great hospitals in America.

Only God knows what elite medical care is now available for these elites today and not available for us.

Has any congressit died from Covid or from a heart attack in the last 4+ years?

It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club! ~ George Carlin

(Warning! Typical George Carlin language!) May 4, 2014

“But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education sucks, and it’s the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It’s never gonna get any better. Don’t look for it. Be happy with what you got.

Because the owners of this country don’t want that. I’m talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions.

Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t.

You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls.

They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want:

They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them.

Thats against their interests. Thats right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting ***ked by a system that threw them overboard 30 ***king years ago.

They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money.

They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you, sooner or later, ‘cause they own this ***king place.

It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club. And by the way, it’s the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head in their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table is tilted folks.

The game is rigged, and nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. Good honest hard-working people — white collar, blue collar, it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on — good honest hard-working people continue — these are people of modest means — continue to elect these rich ************s who don’t give a ***k about them. They don’t give a ***k about you.

They don’t give a ***k about you. They don’t care about you at all — at all — at all. And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on; the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue ***k that’s being jammed up their ********** everyday. Because the owners of this country know the truth: it’s called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

The upshot was that Ohio lost.

I don’t know about Ohio, but Toledo lost.

Toledo is the 4th or 5th largest city in Ohio

in Michigan Toledo would be easily the second if not the largest now that Detroit is shrinking.

I do recall from classes in Michigan, that Michigan got the Upper Peninsula from Wisconsin. Which did not please Wisconsin in the slightest.

The original plan was to continue the line that divides Indiana from Illinois due north, so Michigan would have had an upper peninsula but a smaller one that it got--the additional land (received as compensation from losing the boundary dispute with Ohio) turned out to be very valuable.

The line would have run through the peninsula dividing Green Bay from Lake Michigan--I don't know if Congress would have assigned that to Michigan since it is rather remote from the Upper Peninsula.

Jimmy Carter survived brain cancer at 87 years old, so YES I would say these elite bastards have medical care definitely not available to the common man or woman!! Our forefathers NEVER could foresee this kind of a life span where people would remain ENTRENCHED in government for never ending DECADES!! If they could have foreseen this kind of medical miracles they surely would have put term limits in the constitution!! They absolutely KNEW the dangers of POWER man gripped onto NEVER wanting to release it!!
