You are so correct. The Democrats took the measure of those holding student loans and judged them correctly. They promised the moon knowing they could not deliver, took their votes, let a federal judge dash their hopes after the election, and are ready to make the same promise again in two years. Mark my words, the former students will fall for it again.

Neat trick. When they try to pull this again, start a rumor that the forgiven loan amount is income and the federal and state taxes on the forgiven amount are due immediately after the amount is forgiven.

Even better, start a rumor that upon loan forgiveness the entire loan amount, not just what was forgiven, is considered income and the federal and state taxes on the entire amount are due immediately.

Never mind that both rumors are preposterous. They'll believe it.

They have zero respect for the rule of law. If they respected the law, they would not have tried this ridiculous end-run around the Constitution in the first place.

I'm thinking that, eventually, some highly-paid, influential and respected lawyers (some of them Democrats) are going to get sick and tired of elected Democrats continually trashing the very foundations of their profession in quest of cheap votes. Should be interesting.
