DALLAS - Two military planes from World War II collided mid-air during a Veterans Day air show at Dallas Executive Airport on Saturday.
The accident took place around 1:20 p.m. during the Commemorative Air Force’s Wings Over Dallas WWII Airshow. There were between 4,000 to 6,000 spectators at the show.
Video from witnesses obtained by FOX 4 shows the planes colliding and then bursting into flames after hitting the ground.
Fallen debris stretched from the south end of the airport, across Highway 67 to a strip mall on the opposite side.
Agreed. The B-17 appeared to be holding a course through a leisurely when the SuperCobra came seemingly came out of nowhere.
...
I saw that video many times and it appeared to me that the Cobra didn’t see the B-17 at all the way he approached with his wings blocking his vision of the Bomber, my 2 cents.
I wonder if there was any radio traffic between aircraft at the just show prior to the crash.
It’s very surrealistic.
