Frozen spinach works in soup! Nice to have a Greenhouse! Some pipe heating cable and heavy Frost fabric might give your plants a lot of protection! (Then again, Its a bit of a relief to be done gardening for the year and be able to do other things like look at your seed catalogues! ) It warmed up to upper 30s and was sunny today, so I went out and watered everything today. Snow here tomorrow night that will move across Missouri. It was warm to my hand inside the low tunnels today so maybe I will get faster growth after all.

End of the weeks it will be in the upper 40s and overnight lows in the upper 20s, so I can leave the tarps off overnight. Maybe I will get my 3 weeks more growth

Bumping up my plans for the week. Going to do a Grocery Run while I can still use the VW. She doesn't like the snow. ;) Up to 4" of snow by Wednesday. Manageable, but that still means I need to find my shovel (it's in the barn - somewhere!) and Beau needs to bring my bucket of sand and salt to the front porch!

The past 10 days have been pure, unadulterated suckage at Augie’s house. I climbed out of bed the morning of 11/5 feeling like I’d been run over by a cement mixer. Felt fine when I went to bed Friday night. It was literally like someone had flipped my death warmed over switch. High fever, glass throat, knife in the eye, want to throw up, hacking and gagging, bull-stomped misery. Tested C+ Monday morning. Mrs. Augie tested C+ Wednesday morning. Thursday I felt like I might be starting to mend but that was just a cruel joke. Friday I was back in the wringer with Saturday and Sunday worse yet.

Having zero gumption to drag my bones to the greenhouse has resulted in most of my seedlings croaking from too much heat and not enough water. The green salad in the planter boxes on the floor is doing well, but the stuff I had in flats is pretty much toast.

Think I’ll slither my way back to the couch now and try to get a nap in.

If its the old VW Bug yes, they are not particularly safe.

Here, rain turning to snow later. 2-3 inches possible, but more off to the east.

Since neither me or the Mrs. work being retired, we tend to look at the snow and shrug and wait for a warm wind to come and melt it off.

I watered every thing yesterday....got to the upper 30s which is all I need. We will be in the 40s during the day later this week. I will pull covers off and let my Brassica plantings enjoy full sun during the day! I would like to shut down the garden by 2nd week of Dec. Depends on the weather tho

Enjoy your shopping trip!

I can try that. I remember putting the tip of my tongue on one and got a quick blast of real heat. That was enough to scare me off.

I gave some to the clerk at school - husband from Mexico - and he said mine weren’t all that hot.

2001 VW Golf, which is the same chassis as the VW Bug, which was also my very first car; a 1971!

My Golf has 55K miles on her, and aside from new tires and a new battery this year, AND hitting a deer, she is in fine shape. She just doesn’t like the BIG hill she needs to climb to get to our house.

And that’s why I bought my F-150 truck this year. :)

That is sucky! I think I had it in January No test until March, but it was negative. Hope you both feel better!

But, you know I love my Zero-Turn. And the dog needs a place to pee, LOL! ;)

I’m still cranking out lettuce, spinach and kale. I quit mowing back in October. Yay!

4” of snow the past two days. :)

With overnight temps in East Tennessee in the upper teens and twenties until Thanksgiving, I wheeled the broccoli plants into the garage to protect them from the cold. They need a couple more weeks until we pick them.

AMEN!!! I see one carefully manicured lawn after another here in East Tennessee...I’d LOVE to take a rototiller to them.

#3 LOL! Mom has the ‘Boy Scouts on Probation’ rake her many leaves each season. Something like 30 bags of the stuff this year.

Her neighbor asked if he could have ‘some’ and he took them all for the Community Garden. :)

Fall Broccoli is the BEST. No Cabbage Worms to worry about, and to me, it tastes sweeter with a little chill-time.

But, most Brassicas react that way.

I love a cup of fresh, hot coffee any time of the day and any time of the year!

I very vividly remember one Christmas when we decided to make gifts for everyone on our list. It was a very memorable Christmas and some of those gifts are still in existence!

I appreciate homemade/handmade gifts very much, but not everyone does. For some people it’s like getting underwear, I guess.

Up until this week, the temperatures have been more like late spring/early summer. My petunias are still flowering prolifically, dianthus doing well, and one of the mini-rose bushes has buds forming! I don’t know if they will fully develop as the temperatures have dropped dramatically and are now in the more normal range for this time of the year.
