A California woman gave birth to a baby girl on the side of a freeway Wednesday night, after her bid to get to hospital in time stalled out.
While on the 5 Freeway en route to UCI Medical Center, however, Ally asked her husband to pull over because “the baby was going to come out.”
Orange County Fire Authority first responders were called to the scene around 9:30. OCFA fire captain Jorge Robledo told The Times that while he had assisted with deliveries before, highway births are rare.
Last month, The Post reported on a UK woman who suddenly delivered to her daughter in the back of a taxi, only to be charged a cleaning fee by the cab company just days later.
“I understand that I did make a mess, but it’s a bit cheeky to have charged me,” new mom-of-two Farah Cacanindin said at the time.

On 5 freeways? Dang, how long is that baby?
Cop pulls over a driver for driving 5 miles an hour on the freeway.
“Why so slow?”
“It’s the five freeway and than means drive five miles an hour.”
“I see. But why are your passengers so rattled?”
“I dunno. But we did just get off the 101.”
...as opposed to expecting someone else to clean up your mess for free?
Old Tim Thomerson standup routine from the late 70’s
I was born on the freeway somewhere between Visalia and Bakersfield and I was raised on a mayonnaise farm. When I was finishing 8th grade my brother runned over me with a backhoe. Sparks commenced and mah face caught on fire. Daddy run down from from the porch and put it out with a rake. Then I growed up...
For some reason that routine stuck in my head all these years and the freeway thing brought it to mind.
LOL! Cheeky!
The good news is that the medics killed it with scissors.
Back when I was in high school, we still had driver’s ed classes.
During my first lesson, an interstate foray, my mellowed-by-bourbon instructor calmly mentioned “70 is the name of the highway, not the speed limit, ya know”.
“”On 5 freeways? Dang, how long is that baby?””
LOL
Now that you ask -pretty long. All the way from the Mexican border to the border with Canada.
Just great, another anchor baby
Why would you say that baby is an anchor baby. The fathers surname is Japanese. He attended California colleges and is a software engineer. He is most likely American and lived here his entire life.
She or a family member should’ve told the driver to send them a bill. Although the baby is a gift from God to the family, it’s birth wasn’t a high honor to the cab company. That vehicle was out of commission until it was cleaned, so the driver and the company probably lost fares unless there was a spare cab available. At least give the company a chance to be gracious if they could afford it.
I take it that they charge cleaning fees to vomiting drunks and sick people.
Totally agree.
Like I-5 traffic isn’t bad enough.
