Actually, there is such a thing as an ugly win. And that is when people get the illusion that they won, but the people they elect won’t do a single thing to change anything. And also, when election counting theater is successful at creating the impression that the newly elected people barely won by the skin of their teeth and I have no sort of mandate. So yes, there is a such a thing as an ugly win. And that’s not just an emotional response, it directly affects the ability of these new people to successfully implement the things that they were voted in to implement.
