"Where have all the flowers gone?" asks the famous 1960s antiwar song. In Moscow today, The New York Times reports, the question is: Where have all the men gone?
The answer to both questions is, in part, the same: To the graveyards of soldiers. But a lot of the missing men of Moscow have also fled Russian President Vladimir Putin's draft for his war in Ukraine. In fact, demographers say Russia may not recover for generations, if ever.
"Putin spent years racing against Russia's demographic clock, only to order an invasion of Ukraine that's consigning his country's population to a historic decline," Bloomberg News reports. Here's a look at what demographer Alexei Raksha calls Russia's "perfect storm" of demographic decline:
Moscow demographer Igor Efremov tells Bloomberg. It would likely bring birth rates down to 1 million between mid-2023 and mid-2024, dropping the fertility rate to 1.2 children per woman, a low mark Russia hit only once, in the 1999-2000 period. "A fertility rate of 2.1 is needed to keep populations stable without migration,"
"All of the most reasonable guys are gone," said Tatiana, a 36-year-old Muscovite. "The dating pool has shrunk by at least 50 percent."

Russian males born in 1923 were killed off in huge numbers in WWII. Very few from that generation survived ... this war in the Ukraine will have some impact on the general population numbers but nothing close to WWII that exceeded 20 million.

Lie, the 300,000 ramp up by Vlad affected only prior servicemen, not a general call up or mobilization which the Duma must vote on- to this date they have not authorized mobilization.
In fact, in addition to the prior servicemen call up, an ADDITIONAL 70,000 young patriotic Ivans “fled” to the recruiting stations…a fact the corrupted western MSM omitted. Much like what happened during the US 9/11 event,our population witnessed many young patriotic men volunteering for service.
The western MSM is getting nauseating. More nauseating is how many are still drinking the western MSM whiskey. Their “ hangover” will be historic.
So if Biden wants to send you to ukraine, or to fight in a desert or 3rd world area for some corporate interest, you’re just gonna be cannon fodder, no problem.

Agreed, but it is the fertility RATE, over time, not the totals that does the damage.
Going into WWII the Russian fertility rate was well over 6 and only went down, today less than 2.

Sure, what men but cowards would seek to avoid getting drafted into a war of aggression by the thug who runs your country and sent into combat without proper clothing, equipment, weapons, and food.
If its 50% less in the dating pool in urban Moscow which was sparred the worst of the draft, then one can only imagine what its like in Central Russia and the Far East where the preponderance of the conscripts came from. There must be towns and vilages nearly devoid of any men of dating age and over.
