This amendment doesn’t set abortion policy at all - just heads off an attempt to create an “right” to abortion by judicial fiat (which is what they are trying to do - cases are already pending). However, there are plenty of ads running saying it “bans all abortions without any exceptions” including soft, warm ads from grandmothers, mothers, etc. who have grandchildren / children saying things went well in their pregnancies, but not everyone is so lucky, etc. and this would prevent people from receiving the care they need. “No matter how you feel about abortion, we can’t let this extreme mandate pass.” Absolutely false ads...they are running heavily on the subchannels without any competing message.
There’s no right, and the federal government has no right to make a law that says that a state can’t forbid it.
Am I the only one who finds it repugnant that we vote on what are God-given rights? This is not a matter of negotiation. It is a given: innocent life should never be taken without due process, and a single individual’s “choice” in no way constitutes due process.
