I worked with a man who was in the 35th Infantry Regiment. It was just a general attitude that the 8th Army elements deploying to Korea would be back in about three months. The NKPA was considered to be just some rabble of ‘’slopes’. The fighting capacity of the NORKs shocked the hell out of the US Army at every level Not so, in Europe in 1914. All belligerent forces expected a maximum effort operation of larger size and scope than had ever been seen before. Even at that the French underestimated just how powerful the German Army had become in the last ten years and how they really had integrated reserve divisions with the first echelon regular forces as well as how devastating the German heavy artillery was due to improvements in coordinating fires and accuracy in target ranging. While the crushing numerical and material superiority of the Russian armies versus the Austro-Hungarian and later Ottoman forces was a big surprise to the Central Powers.
Moreover, and most significant, the economic consequences of mass mobilization and the disruption of the banking and finance system was considered by the financiers and governments to force a n end to combat in 6-9 months. However, the Swiss and the bankers of Europe proved to be much more competent than imagined and Zurich became the center for belligerent power’s financiers to swap and liquidate massive quantities of securities from enemy states being held in portfolios. While markets crashed across Europe they continued to be able to operate contrary to pre war assumptions. At the same time Britain, France and Germany proved to have treasury officials and bankers who were much more opportunistic and pragmatic about floating huge new loans and bond issues so the financial structure needed to finance a long term war sprung into life. So in 1914 the resilience and willingness to ignore pre war banking conventions made a long war possible. In Korea it was just arrogance and lack of information on enemy capabilities that jolted the Americans. Five months later in November the same thing happened when EUSAK and Pacific Command grossly underestimated the size and tactical competence of CCF forces. This go round is impossible to predict if it happens as it is possible worse case that a real global conflict could come about through a series of escalations and three different fronts in east Europe, the Persian Gulf-Middle East and Asia Pacific could emerge. The really big question is whether strategic exchanges can be avoided.
That is my fear.

If you dig deeper, you will see I have been a long time member, since about 2002-04? Having been working overseas in those years, ( yes, Russia, Ukraine, EU, ME, SA) I found FR interesting to read.
When the C flu hoax and shutting down of churches, businesses, economy, etc…began, I found it time to start posting, interjecting facts before the US was flushed down the toilet.
Not being an “ armchair” as so many here, my “boots on the ground” observations are posted in hopes the younger, armchair Western MSM junkies would see things as they are- not what they want to be.

Quite the contrary, being pro-US and believing freedom is a gift, my travels and employment with certain .gov agencies took some time to realize the US ( and NATO) had started to lose their way, deceiving the public for their own agenda.
When they gained control of western MSM, it was all to clear they have no interest in the welfare of US citizens.None of the “ news” was jiving ( much omitted or spun) with what I witnessed. The troublesome realization is just how easily the public is being mislead.
My advice to you, put down the western MSM whiskey bottle, all the war cheerleaders are in for one heck of a hangover.
