Devastating cuts to Twitter’s workforce on Friday, four days before the midterm elections, are fueling anxieties among political campaigns and election offices that have counted on the social network’s staff to help them combat violent threats and viral lies.
The mass layoffs Friday gutted teams devoted to combating election misinformation, adding context to misleading tweets and communicating with journalists, public officials and campaign staff.
The layoffs included a number of people who were scheduled to be on call this weekend and early next week to monitor for signs of foreign disinformation, spam and other problematic content around the election, one former employee told The Washington Post. As of Friday morning, employee access to internal tools used for content moderation continued to be restricted, limiting staff’s ability to respond to misinformation.

*misinformation
That is all. Carry on.
I think they meant to say...
“Twitter layoffs gutted election propaganda teams days before midterms”
What did the rest of the employees do with their time at the company?
We'll probably find out this weekend that a great many of them are non-essential.
They want to shut down all debate about cheating AFTER the election. That’s what they’re afraid of.
The truth!
I don't know why I can't get the photo to show up but all it is is Crowder sitting behind a table with a sign saying "Trump Won in 2020, Change my mind".
ProtectOurFreedom... exactly! Well said.
“But a representative from one of the national party committees said they are seeing hours-long delays in responses from their CONTACTS AT TWITTER”
Virtually admitting their law-breaking.
“She pointed to one post where a user wrote of the need to “pour in bleach or gasoline” at ballot drop boxes”
Hmmm...
““Elon Musk goes out and buys an outfit that spews lies all across the world,” (Biden) said while attending a political fundraiser in Chicago.”
Hard to argue with that. But if he (or they) do think that way, what’s the downside in Musk buying Twitter...since it can only get better if it is already spewing “lies all across the world”?
“Twitter layoffs gutted election information teams days before midterms”
It’s the equivalent of AT&T having an army of people who’s job it was to listen to political conversations in phone calls and then to jump-in to the conversations to ‘correct them’ when they heard something that they didn’t like.
Thankfully, AT&T didn’t try doing that in 1980 and Reagan won.

WaPo needs a team in-house to combat viral lies. Goodness knows WaPo has spread a LOT of viral lies and spread a LOT of misinformation.
This is the setup to scapegoat Twitter, at least partially, if Tuesday turns out to be a huge blowout of the Democrats. To be followed by calls for legislating “content moderation” to curb “misinformation” for all social media platforms.
Amazing how the truth leaks through, in this article. It makes it very obvious that twitter was demoting Republican-friendly truth and promoting democrat-friendly propaganda.
Now that twitter is no longer working for the dems, the dems are panicking.
Keep hearing about Republican violence, yet no real examples are ever provided.
Yeah...the “party line” is back!
What is a WARN law?
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs.
