I don’t think this is something new. I remember reading an article in the year 2000 that Planned Parenthood gave a free vasectomy to any man who wanted it. In the article one man who was a serious environmentalist God of vasectomy, and it said his girlfriend dumped him.

Government funded insurance actually pays lower rates to providers than commercial health plans, Medicaid being the lowest. We all pay into those programs via payroll taxes, simply because failing to fund those programs would be more costly than the alternatives.
